Overview
About Me
Hi you all, my name is Diogo, I am a Brazilian recently graduated doctor who is working hard to get in a residency program.
I lived for a year at the USA where I was introduced to the couchsurfing community. I've had a few experiences hosting and being hosted so far, all of them amazing. Nowadays I am back to my hometown (São Luís - MA, Brazil).
I am here to help, not all the time I will be able to host, but I can definitely help in other ways (ex.: information or companion). So don't hesitate to contact me if you need.
PHILOSOPHY
"A man must travel. On his own, not through stories, images, books or TV. Need to travel by himself, with his eyes and feet, to understand what is yours. For one day plant their own trees and value them. Know the cold to know the heat. And the opposite. Feel the distance and homelessness to be well under his own roof. A man must travel to places that do not know to break this arrogance that makes us see the world as we imagine, not simply as it is or can be; which makes us teachers and doctors of what we haven't seen when we should just be students, and simply go and see. "

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I can host people and I would love surfing in some couches sometimes. I can show you around and talk about our way of living, traditions, etc.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted and surfed a few times so far. All good experiences.
Interests
I love traveling and I love meeting new people and cultures. I think the world is too big and the life too short so we should try to know as much as we can! When I say "know" I mean all aspects of life that includes countries, people and cultures.
I'm a physician and it takes most of my time. Although I don't have much free time, in my free time I like to hang out with friends, go to the beach, play soccer, see people, meet people, drinking cold beer, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
All kinds of music. Seriously!
My favorite genre of movies is rom-coms, although my favorite TV show is The Walking Dead LOL. Now I am addicted for Game of Thrones and House of Cards.
My favorites books are from a Brazilian writer who lived in the XVII century, he's called Machado de Assis. Recently I read the book "Dear John" of Nicholas Spark and I liked it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I will never forget the moment that I was accept to medical school in Brazil.
I almost died once swimming in the sea. I was about to be hit by a boat when my uncle dived and pushed me down of the boat's propeller. That moment I felt like if I was born again. It's not exactly a amazing thing LOL, but it marked my life.
The Grand Canyon, Statue of Liberty, Christ the Redeemer (Rio), top of Empire State building were life-changing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you some portuguese/brazilian if you're interested.
I can tell you about my homecountry, our culture, lifestyle, politics, etc. Basically all you want to know about Brazil.
If you're a health care professional or even if you're not we can talk about medical stuff.
We can talk about pretty much everything, share life experiences, etc. It would be enriching anyways.
