About Me

I'm Diogo and I really love to talk, That is my passion. I love meeting new people, discover the resemblances, share my experiences and learn about different cultures spread all around the world.

I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

I'm a PhD candidate in Philosophy, but I'm not a boring person, we can talk about philosophy or not. That's my job, but I'm really passionate about it learn counter intuitive ideas or common sense ideas about many topics since the purpose of life until how we act ethically in some situations.

I'm vegetarian. I don't eat meat. If you want to prepar some meal with meat, be cool, but you should have in mind that I will not help you (and we can share that meal, for sure), because it goes against my principles.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because my main reason when I'm traveling is not to see the tourist places, or guides who show the places, or even more people trained to talk to tourists. I like to meet real people immersed in that culture. My native culture is brazilian (Rio de Janeiro), and I can show to each person who I host some different aspects from the brazilian culture.

Interests

I used to play drums, so I love music. All kinds. I like brazilian music, british rock, american rock. I'm passionate about psychodelic music from 60's. The Doors is my favorite band ever.

I like to read novels and we can many topics in common. I like all kind of literature. Obviously I like philospohy as well and many topics about it.

I'm not that guy who wakes up very early and go to the beach run, but we can wake up around 8 or 9 and prepare a good vegetarian breakfast.

Music, Movies, and Books

As I wrote below, I like all kinds of music, especially The Doors and the psychodelic rock from 60ś (american, britsh and brazilian psychodelic).

I like many movies, but the essence to touch me is to show how life can be easy if we don't see the things heavily. Amélia Poulain is a good example of it. I like drama movies which shows the problems of life as well.

About books: One of my favorites novel books is White Castle by Pamuk. I like his style and how the conduct the story. In philosophy I can't write everything, but I like Plato, Aristotle and all philosophers before Socrates, but I like contemporary philosophy as well, especially philosophy of mind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I travel backpacking, so, each trip I've done I met new people, slept in couchs and test myself in difficult situations is an amazing thing for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can talk a lot! I can show some veggie meals, exchange some cultural principles and try to share portuguese (you can learn the basic to move around the city).

What I Can Share with Hosts

In this moment I can share a couch to sleep. But you can have all the access to the parts of my house (except the dorms). I have a good and beautiful living room that we can talk a lot there. I live in a neighboorhood with samba spread for all the main street. We can go there and drink a beer ;).
