About Me

CURRENT MISSION

at peace with the rhythm of the earth.

ABOUT ME

I am intensely curious, positive, joyful and quick to laugh, but am always searching for meaning, relevance, and what motivates people. I am creative and visual, and have worked as a floral designer for quite a few years. I am currently trying to narrow down what the next step is for me career wise (photography? journalism?? An earthy mother?), which I have to confess seems to be an ongoing evolution. I have met some some great people in my travels with great stories and asked tonnes of questions to help me along my way. I spent lots of time WWOOFING, which I've found is a great experience, and a privelege to see how people are creating lives that they want for themselves. Everything is about context, I find, and if I can broaden the concept of myself in the context of a larger world, then perhaps I can come to find my place in it a little easier...

PHILOSOPHY

Learn, explore, love; find the divine in the simple and commonplace.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Spread the word!! I think it's a fantastic initiative. I am currently living with family in some cramped quarters so am sadly unable to host, but am happy to meet up for coffee and show some sights.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had the best time surfing with Ben and Mav in London! I was feeling a bit world weary by the time I got there, and I think that their company was what made my time in London the most enjoyable! And Barbara in Genoa... Had so many wonderful hosts that I feel like I have good friends dotted on so many places on the globe. Anyway, I love how the CS communtity contributes to making the world smaller in the best of ways...

Reading, photography, writing, spirituality, plants and flowers, herbology and ethnobotany, travelling, working with my hands, dreaming, being social and meeting new people, fun, solitude, animals, music, dancing, cooking, markets, looking after people, singing in the car!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies- This is always tricky. Most recently seen which I've enjoyed: The Godfather 1&2, Sherlock Holmes, I Love You, Man. Ones I will always have soft spots for: Pan's Labyrinth, Amelie, Souvenir of Canada and Everything's Gone Green by Douglas Coupland, Chocolat, Born into Brothels, Juliette of the Herbs, Frida, Vicki Cristina Barcelona, City of God, Stranger than Fiction, The Black Stallion (it's Frances Ford Coppola, okay??).

Music-Neko Case, Feist, The Great Lake Swimmers, Metric, Arcade Fire, Devendra Banhart, Sloan, Sam Roberts, Cat Power, The Shins, Yma Sumac, The Tragically Hip, Cowboy Junkies, Sarah Harmer, Coldplay, The Thievery Corporation, The Black Seeds, Gem, The Gotan Project, Anoushka Shankar

Books-also tricky-most recently read: Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. SO INTERESTING. I have been a total bookworm since the day I learned to read, and will basically devour anything if it's good. Miriam Toews is another one of my fav Canadian writers. Currently in love with Canada Reads on CBC Radio One.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

SOO many... being invited to a traditional Moroccan wedding celebration in Zagora, and being part of the drumming circle, and dancing with the all the girls!
...seeing the sun set and the moon rise at the same time over the cliffs in Lagos, Portugal
Canada is beautiful and amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

Some things I may have to offer: Knowledge about dog behaviour, basic training and agility, plant identification and some basic medicinal uses for common herbs, basic medicine making, floral design, willing to share about my Ukrainian customs such as traditional easter eggs, cooking... Some things I'd like to learn further are working with leather, a bit more about photography/photoshop, more learning about plants and herbs and cooking! Basically I am willing to share of my self and spread joy and fairy dust all over you, making you giggle helplessly all the while.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Monaco, Morocco, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
