Sobre mí

I'm Nick. I'm the geologist for our country's only rare earth element mine. I'm also a coloring book artist (google "vegebooks"), an electronic musician (google "vegenaut"), a cartographer, programmer, burner, and more.

My profile says I live in Las Vegas, but I actually live in Mountain Pass CA about 50 minutes south of Las Vegas. I had to put the address for my house in Las Vegas because I cannot receive mail in Mt Pass. That's how remote it is! If you want to see the natural side of Las Vegas / the Mojave desert, if you want to experience true natural beauty and remote solitude - hit me up. To most people, the beauty of Vegas is in the casinos, the lights, the luxury, the entertainment. To me, the beauty is the expansive valleys, the painted sandstone canyons, the towering limestone cliffs, the unsent climbing routes, the abandoned mines, the secret hot springs, etc.

I live off-grid a few hundred yards from the border of the Mojave National Preserve at a place called Kokoweef. An old mining claim from the 30's, its now private property owned by a treasure hunting company that is completely surrounded by either BLM or National Park land on every side. We sit in the densest Joshua Tree forest in the world at about 5100 ft. Its an amazingly beautiful place and words can't do it justice. If you are planning a visit to the Mojave National Preserve, Kokoweef might just be the best base camp for exploration!

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

The place I live is a perfect basecamp for exploring the southeast mojave desert, including the Mojave National Preserve. I'd like to host guests so that others can come camp on it, learn about off-grid living, and experience the same beauty I see every day.
