Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Anything that moves my body- mostly jazz, acoustics, older punk, some rock really anything... Less I forget, world music, folk, the beat has to inspire that "body pulse" that tends to reverberate into your spirit, causing you to move...
Books: I read most things I can get my hands on, but often get distracted and tend to read 3 or more at a time, currently I'm a Student so it's mostly information based material.
Right now one of the books I'm enjoying "The Raven's Gift" by Jon Turk, it's about a great adventerous scientist and his journey into a rule Siberian village, and his true journey with a shamanic woman and his spiritual & physical "rebirthing" in a sense. AMAZING!
Movies: Love them all! And it's my favorite pass-time in the evenings, winding down and letting go of my brain a little.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It's really hard to say... I've been fortunate to have a list of many!
Juarez Mexico, is now in my Top Ten List...
My number ONE currently is: Mount Fisher
Reccently I excepted a casual invite, with randomly new people I had only reccently met at my work place to hike/ climb up Mount Fisher. Three truck loads with 11 people and a dog who had recovered from being almost killed by a truck, adventured out... Nothing beats really getting to know a group of strangers like, blood, sweat and tears for some.
With an altitude of 9336 feet, located just east of Wild Horse Creek, towering in the Cranbrook skyline. The hike started after work and ended in the middle of the night. Sections of practically vertical scrambling over shale and sand, snow and giant wolf spiders. The endurance ascend was 3 hours and 20 mintues from the truck, and the descend was just under 3 hours, in the dark.
The adventure was mostly glorious because of the view at the top of this giant mountain during sun set was more then breath-taking. With some great and humorous photo ops, some mixed nuts & dear jerky and the signature in the log book at the top, the scramble down was more challenging then the rise to the top.
A highlight for my summer of 2010, is inspiring me to travel up this beast again in a month, and have an opportunity to take my time and enjoy more of a casual climb.
With a few days of busted-ass quadriceps and stiff joints and hands, the recover time has been a great reminder of the adventure, days later. And has feed the authentic self to accomplish what you set your heart out in doing...
