ABOUT ME
I have a wide set of skills, almost all of which have no practical application, i.e. poetry, intuition, sensuality, flares for things like interior design, comprehensive knowledge of 90's celebrity culture, relaxing. Despite this, I remain an ambitious person; besides traveling, my goals are to get my MFA in Poetry, become fluent in German, publish books, scuba dive when summer comes around again, travel as often as possible, and say precisely what I mean.
I am the type of person who is comfortable alone at a bar or a cafe, but prefer being around people who show me their intellectual and emotional spark. I love people who let me pick their brains, and who want to pick mine. I love fun, and I'll do almost anything to pursue it... I'm not the type of person to turn down an adventure because I have work in the morning. I'm happiest when I'm in the company of someone strange and a little unpredictable, who can jam with me intellectually, but also slow down and linger over the beautiful details of being alive.
I love foreign lands and good conversation. Listening to music is downright reflexive at this point; within a minute and a half of coming home, I'm diddling around on grooveshark trying to find "the right song". The best way to sum up my taste is to say that I like music that makes me feel like I'm walking through an enchanted forest. That could be anything from Radiohead to Florence & The Machine to The French Kicks to reggae to french pop to ambient.
I came back to the U.S. only a few months ago, after I worked for a year in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. I miss it there a lot. I also really miss the traveler/backpacker lifestyle now that I'm in grad school. I want to experience great sights, tastes and people, and generally soak up everything life has to offer. Hard to do in America's south.
I have accomplished the following in my life so far: backpacked through Southeast Asia and Europe, scrawled pointless nonsense into my notebook, tried new foods, drank with strangers, tried and failed to learn Chinese, rode a motorcycle on cliffs overlooking the Pacific, gotten lost, wasted countless hours on the internet, fell in an out of love a handful of times, spent too much money at Hobby Lobby decorating my new apartment.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I used couchsurfing all over Europe and Southeast Asia this past year, nothing but positive experiences. Now that I finally have a stable residence, and a couch that I bought off the internet, it's time to pay it forward.
Interests
First and foremost, picking someone's brain. Also: conversations about sex, my 1990 Oldsmobile, cheap ethnic food, human beings, healthy debate, microbrews.
A stay with me would most likely involve me cooking dinner (my culinary finesse will make your head spin) and drinking hoppy beer.
