About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make new friends, hear about places I've never been to, share some wine and food...

ABOUT ME

I'm a Guatemalan who was lucky to grow up in the midwest in the US when, I think, that was a great experience. The work ethic, family values and general outlook on life of that swath of the US is (was?) truly something admirable.

Later, my parents moved back to Guatemala (this is when dinosaurs still ruled) and I finished my schooling here.

I have been able to travel, never got married or otherwise committed (except for a few not very good tries). I still keep the love of my life tucked in way in the back of my mind, hoping that fate, like in the stories will let us share some time again in this life.

As to preferences, I prefer a few, good friends to groups of many people, I like to cook and eat at home. Occasionally drinks and food outside are a lot of fun too. Throw in some Corrinne Bailey Rae, Miles, Jack Johnson a few good stories and you've got a great evening!

Although I've liked almost every place I've visited I think my favorite area of the world at the Eastern end of the Mediterranean, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan and Greece all have a feeling of ancientness that attracts me tremendously.

Due to the present political situation my next long trip will hopefully be across the Pacific Northwest in the US and Canada, and who knows, maybe even Alaska.

PHILOSOPHY

Although I have come to believe that making a real difference in this life is very difficult, if it's possible it should be done. As many of the great religions point out, if you can give a hand, a blanket or a meal, or share a thought do so, it will be good for the other person and for you. We should not forget that we have the right to live our lives as we please as long as we don't interfere or obstruct other people's existences. In that same vein, we should not permit others to be barriers to our own explorations and growth.
