ABOUT ME
Originally from Istanbul and currently working for a tech company in Silicon Valley. Enjoy all things music, art, movies, traveling.
I have a relatively busy schedule during the week. So we may hang out more if you are staying during the weekend.
***I will not accept (reply to) the requests from people with no references.***
Still, half of the requests that are coming to me will be from people with no references. Don't be that guy.
I prefer hosting people that have already contributed to the community. Trust me, there are so many different ways to do that (hint: try hosting someone for a reference or attend a CS meetup). Most likely 1-2 references will not be enough for me to get an idea about you, hence more references, the better. If you are not a solo traveler, I need the CS and Facebook profiles of all the surfers.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surfed several times back in the day and since I am working full-time right now, I can only host and/or attend the meet-ups.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Years ago when I traveled Europe, I surfed other CSers with my friend a couple of times. It was probably around 2006 and yes CS existed at that time. I hosted several people in DC and San Francisco after that.
Interests
Music, playing electric, acoustic, bass guitar, harmonica, collecting records, sports, football, snowboarding, basketball, chess, swimming, table tennis, traveling, taking pictures, reading and many other random things.
Music, Movies, and Books
Just realized that the list below is definitely not up to date at all but it gives an idea...
MOVIES: Winter sleep, Blue is the warmest color, Into the wild, Once upon a time in Anatolia, Boyhood (and other Richard Linklater movies)
MUSIC: Funk, soul, afrobeat, triphop, psychedelic, rock, grunge, blues and probably many other things. I can't categorize the music I like in a few genres. Don't get me wrong I don't listen to "everything", in fact there are so many things that I don't like but there is nothing that completely describes what I enjoy listening to.
BOOKS: mirrors: stories of almost everyone, children of days, l'etranger, brave new world, schachnovelle, factotum, das parfum, on the road, dharma bums, catcher in the rye, of mice and men...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swimming with sharks and hammerheads in Ecuador.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a data scientist so I am interested in all things data. Besides that I have been playing guitar about 15 years and can probably teach some stuff. I am also into photography so I can share some of my basic knowledge there as well.
Last but not least, I think I have a pretty broad knowledge of music in several different genres so can probably hook you up with a record that you have probably have not heard before and that'll most likely be something you will enjoy.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Some backpacking stories, a few tunes they have not heard before, and maybe my friends.
