About Me
I think with every passing year, the main thing I've learned is to take myself less seriously.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been on Couchsurfing for many years, though I'm ashamed to say I've taken rather a long break. It's shocking how easy it is let life get in the way...
For me Couchsurfing is about believing in people. It's far too easy to fall into cynicism when you look at all the things that are wrong with the world. But when you actually meet people, and get a window into their lives, you get an idea just how deep and fascinating the world really is. How incredibly rich people's talents and interests are, and how much there is that you don't know yourself. It's humbling, and it's life-affirming, and it's something I really miss.
Interests
I love being in nature. I also find human civilisation endlessly fascinating, and I'm always wanting to know more about different cultures, whether that's through language or cooking or music.
I studied philosophy at university, and I suppose that has influenced how I think a great deal.
I'd really like to find some way of helping people. I'm not really interested in having money, which is probably just as well!

Music, Movies, and Books
Too many. I will really have to make some time to put some kind of a list together...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmm. Let’s call it a work in progress.
Teach, Learn, Share
My main feeling at the moment is that we spend way too much time being busy, and not nearly enough time considering what things are really worth doing. I'm really looking forward to getting some new perspectives on this.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good listener, and I can laugh at myself.
I love cooking, and love to share recipes and travel ideas.
I used to be a fairly devoted guitarist, and I always like to play with other musicians.
Failing all of the above, I can bring a bottle of wine.
