About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding places to stay in 3 Italian cities and Koh Tao, Thailand in October!

ABOUT ME

I love to sing and dance. I enjoy teaching and amusing people. I find cultures and languages fascinating and wish that I could speak them fluently but am too lazy to devote lots of time learning unless I knew it would be a long term investment for my future...I loved learning Spanish in the States because I had to speak it with my students' parents but haven't really gotten into Chinese for some reason. Sometimes I like not knowing what people are saying. It's like being in my own private world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't read much. :(
I sing and dance so I enjoy a lot of music.
Mostly something with a beat and lyrics that I can sing.
I don't enjoy screamers (death metal) though.
Movies=Yes, please! I like watching them at home and in the theaters.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time I beat someone at this karaoke contest for 1st place and later seen that guy on American Idol. I jumped out of my seat and my grandma, sitting next to me, was really confused.

During a choir concert in Portugal, I thought God and the conductor/director was calling me out... so I left the stands and walked up on stage and started dancing infront of everyone. As I returned to my place I got mixed responses from the others. Some cheered me on, some were disgusted and thought I was trying to show off. My professor scolded me badly, but I wasn't too upset because I geniunely thought "GOD" was telling me to do it!

My band in Las Vegas and I recorded our first CD together. Recording a CD was one of my dreams. It has my name as the lead singer and lyricist.

In 2008, in Dalian, China, when I lived there, on Christmas Eve I met my friend in a bar and asked him to come with me to the marketplace to deliver "Christmas" presents to my vendors. That night I gave away a 1,000 RMB to people (some random) that helped me with my veggies and fruits...and hot sweet potatoes. My friend, who's actually my current roommate and travel buddy to Italy, translated "Merry Christmas". Their responses were quite funny at first. A lot of them were confused why I was giving away money. And the next few days, my baked sweet potatoe guy kept giving me extra potatoes. :) A few random people at the Quik Mart got surprises as well.

Also, another time I walked pass this lady beggar with her two kids... that I've seen begging for money before. I asked her in my poor Chinese if she wanted "it". She was confused for 30 seconds as I was pointing to the store across the street. So the 4 of us went inside and the little kid asked me if he could get this "snack" and I gestured and said in English "ask your mom". It made me feel happy. They left with 6 bags of groceries, one in each hand, and it only cost me $14 USD at that time...which was in 2009. I am not rich by any means, but I do realize that I have enough to survive. Many people have a lot more than I do...and others a lot less. I just want to feel that I have some sort of purpose and have made a positive impact somehow, as I'm sure many people hope the same.
