About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Caleb. I am currently bicycle touring Mexico and later in Japan, but looking to host here in Tucson, AZ when I settle down and start working again.

I am an aviation mechanic that loves to backpack, bikepack, and bicycle touring. I love experiencing other cultures and meeting the awesome people on couchsurfing and the budget backpackers at hostels.

PHILOSOPHY

People should do what they want and what makes them happy, be it adventures, activities, a type of life style, or whatever it is that they enjoy. People shouldn't feel trapped by family, friends, society, or anything else that keeps them from enjoying life. Everyone should do what they feel gives them the most joy in life and run towards that. This freedom is what makes people so unique and what makes for the best of friends.

THINGS TO DO

I tend look for more budget friendly activities, but there is quite a bit to do here, both free and otherwise. I am still new to the area, so there are things we can both try for the first time or I can show you some things I am more familiar with. I also have 5 bicycles we can ride around town on as well, as the town is a bike land gold mine. Lots and lots of restaurants, hiking, biking, museums, Mt. Lemmon, ect...

GUESTS
Like I said, I really want to host, but I am still settling in to Tucson. Anyway, I live in a very small 1 bedroom apartment in a fairly central location in Tucson. It definitely not uptown quality, but I rather like where I am at. I have a 3 or 4 possible sleeping options, with a bunkbed in the bedroom, a cheap futon/bed and a hammock in the livingroom. You are welcome to whatever you like.

I'll be honest, I am not really interested much in hosting US citizens on their weekend trips to do the Tour de Tucson and whatnot, I more want to host foreigners that are are longer US road trips. One to maybe two guests at a time. Thursday to Saturday are my days of, so if you are here those times, it would be ideal.

I am a backpacker myself and am currently saving from another budget trip to Central America, so that being said, my apartment and belongings are fairly minimalist. Just keep that in mind :) In your message to me, throw in that you actually "read my profile" so I know you are not a shotgunning surfer just looking to score a free bed. That's cool and all, but I am looking to make friends, not just host a traveler. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing to hang out with my most favorite people in the world, travelers. I may not be traveling right now, but I still would love the opportunity to make some amazing friends and help fellow travelers out a bit while on their journey.

I started out backpacking with Workaway.info and hostel hopping, but also met some awesome couchsurfing hosts by chance and really wanted to become one myself. There is nothing like meeting someone who is passionate about their town and want to share it with you. That is what I want to do.
