My past big trip entailed me driving a Land Rover from Argentina to Alaska and then across Canada.

ABOUT ME

I am a traveler at heart. I was on the road for more than 8 years and have covered some 60 countries of which I have driven through 47 in the same vehicle. I am currently enjoying a break from my round the world drive and this took us through Canada and the US recently. More details can be seen on my website www.heartofdarkness.com.au

PHILOSOPHY

I live every day as if it were a bonus. I have seen how some live and choose my path carefully. I do not pertain to owning the latest and greatest of everything and would prefer to be able to travel light instead of being burdened by stuff.
If it is food, I will always try it. If an experience, I will always say yes to giving it a go. I am open minded and love a good discussion.

We currently have a spare room in our place and are open to interested parties visiting while we are here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with and hosted many CSers and look forward to doing more of both. I have slept on many hundreds of couches and floors in my world travels. I went to the UK, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland 3years ago for a visit and spent a total of 2 nights in a hotel throughout the 6 weeks trip. Every night was with a different friend or contact and the hotel was for a wedding I was invited to. With a couch now available, we have already had amazing experiences of hosting and surfing using the system.

Love reading, meeting people, diving, cooking and driving. I can also talk! Some say too much, others listen.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visited Antarctica is one example. Drove a road in the Amazon which people said was not a navigable route.

I believe I could teach anyone interested in overland travel, the necessities for starting out. I already infer knowledge to many around the world through my website and am always happy to pass on information gathered from personal experience.
