About Me

I'm Divij, a 30-year-old Indian expat living in Berlin 🇮🇳🇩🇪. I'm extremely open-minded and love meeting new people. Easy to talk to, I make friends quite easily and always find something to learn from everyone I meet. I'm highly intuitive and empathize easily with both people and animals 🐾.

I'm an eternal optimist, always seeing the good in others. Life's beauty often stops me in my tracks - be it a passing cloud, a cool breeze, or a starry night sky ✨. I believe life's magic lies in these little moments.
As an ENFP (for MBTI enthusiasts), I'm an idealist with a practical streak. I'm currently on an exciting journey as a biotech entrepreneur, fascinated by DNA and gene manipulation 🧬. When not geeking out over science, you'll find me on the jiu-jitsu mat 🥋 or hiking trails 🏔️.

Linguistically diverse, I speak English and Hindi fluently, and can understand some Sanskrit, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Currently I am leveling up my German and beginning to learn Spanish. Always up for a language exchange!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here to meet new people, make friends, and expand my horizons. My goal is to explore Europe, creating meaningful connections along the way. I want to see your city through your eyes. :)

While I'm primarily looking to surf now, I hope to host fellow travelers in Berlin in the future and make them feel at home in my global apartment.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Coldplay, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, Adam Levine, Seaside, Bon Jovi, The Script, Enrique. Open to all genres, from French soundtracks to Japanese jazz and death metal. Recently been exploring the Berlin techno scene. I've come across an artist called KiNK who has caught my attention currently.

Favorite Authors: Eion Colfer, Sidney Sheldon, Jeffery Archer, Arthur Hailey, Wilbur Smith. Currently reading "Berlin - Jason Lutes". (I've been into graphic novels recently) and "Long Earth" series. I also read a LOT of nonfiction. I believe in gathering other people opinion's and inform my decision making.

Movies: Enjoy thought-provoking films like Shutter Island, Inception, The Prestige, Rush, and V for Vendetta. Open to all genres that offer deeper meanings. However, I am always open to be surprised and often will find myself watching a soppy film or an interesting drama or a fun comedy. My favorite film to watch with warm, cuddly company is "About Time".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I conquered the 28-day Basic Mountaineering Course at the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS) in Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh 🏔️. This grueling experience pushed me far beyond what I thought were my physical and mental limits 💪🧠.

The course took me on an incredible journey from the institute's base at 8,500 feet to the breathtaking Gorichen Glacier at a staggering 16,500 feet ❄️. Each day brought new challenges, from intense physical training and rock climbing on Asia's highest artificial wall to trekking through diverse terrains with heavy rucksacks 🎒.
One of the most unforgettable moments was scaling an ice wall on the glacier, using crampons and an ice axe for the first time ⛏️. The sense of accomplishment as I reached the top was indescribable, making all the hardships worthwhile 🏆.

The course culminated in an 8 km endurance run with a 12 kg backpack, a true test of everything we had learned. Completing this run, cheered on by instructors and fellow trainees, was a moment of pure elation and pride 🏃‍♂️🎉.
This experience taught me that my perceived limits were just illusions. The camaraderie formed with fellow mountaineers, the stunning Himalayan landscapes, and the profound self-discovery made this not just a course, but a life-changing adventure 🌟.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my experiences, perspectives, ideas, and life stories. I'm great company and always up for stimulating conversations. Eager to learn languages, recipes (yes, I cook! 👨‍🍳), and hear about experiences from different cultures. I am also full of random facts that come off the top of my head.

I can teach you the basics of self-defense, interesting ways to create and hold space for people, and ways to extract DNA at home. I am absolutely thrilled to learn whatever you can teach me. I enjoy listening to people's passions, especially when they get really technically deep into a subject and get lost talking about it. ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts
