About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to try all the sauces, spreads and chutneys that flavor the world
ABOUT ME
The two of us met in Berkeley, on the beautiful, green, vibrant university campus. We both did our research in the area of designing technologies for the developing world, with our theses moving us to different parts of rural India for long periods of time. While most Ph.D.s in computer science probably spend a lot of time in an office behind a computer screen, we both had the great fortune of traveling a lot and discovering the world for our research and conferences. Sonesh has seen a lot more of the world than Divya - but Divya doesn't think that will last long. We love to travel, together and independently. A perfect day for us in a city is just wandering around aimlessly and taking in the sites, sounds, smells; discovering the best vegetarian food and fresh bread and then lounging in a park. A perfect day outside a city is enjoying the great outdoors, being near or on the water, or hiking. Both of us love meeting people and being with friends and family; we also love showing off Berkeley to visitors. And while we love being out, we also enjoy eating a home-cooked meal and getting comfy on the couch in front of a movie.
PHILOSOPHY
Be happy. Don't worry. That's what we strive for at least :-)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Our house has always been open to guests and friends. We love having company, and especially when they stay for a few days :) But we're new to couchsurfing and super excited to meet new people and host. We are also traveling a bit in the next few months and thrilled about the possibility of meeting new people in this community.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We were in the bay outside of Seward, Alaska in September and encountered a school of orcas (killer whales) in the ocean. They were incredible - they swam straight to our boat, under it, they even started doing little tricks like rolling over and bobbing in and out of the water - literally feet away from us and our boat.
