I have tried many things that I was afraid of precisely because I was afraid of them. Except bungee jumping - still too scary to contemplate even now.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am quite new to this but curious. Expecting adventure, meeting people from different cultures, learning something new and unexpected. Hosted several people, haven't tried surfing yet.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Already hosted one person, after being a member for only three days. Enjoyed it. Then a couple from Malaysia. Also nice. And after a month in Japan I am expecting another pair - this time from my adopted home country, Canada.

Interests

Photography (http://www.flickr.com/photos/diwachow/), yoga, languages - lately I have been studying Japanese (third year now), books of all kinds, architecture, good food, how people live in other cultures, cycling and squash, hiking in the mountains, floating on the ocean, environmental protection, classical guitar, singing... Pretty much anything can be interesting, actually.

Eclectic tastes in all three - when it is good, it does not matter which box it was found in. And lots of all three, of course. Special interest in science fiction.
Favourite SF authors - Frank Herbert, Greg Egan, Orson Scott Card, David Brin, Ursula K le Guin, C J Cherryh. Also Neil Gaiman and William Gibson.
