About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Be bold, be brave.

ABOUT ME

I'm a 25 year old military member who is being medically released in October 2016. My plan is to attend university to become a midwife.
I'm married to the wonderful Ben Janson, we've been together for just over 5 years. We are home bodies but enjoy exploring the city every once in a while.
We moved to Edmonton 2 years ago and are still getting comfortable. It's be a long time since we've had the time and resources to start hosting and doing meet ups again. We've been traveling a lot for work and the big cross country move took a lot out of us.
I have a dog, Zoe, and a cat, Archer, and we frequently pet-sit for friends, so pet hair is a reality of life in our little home.

My newest and deepest passion right now is roller skating. I play roller derby with E-Ville, so if you come to visit on the weekend of a bout (game) I'll either be working it or playing in it or both. I also enjoy going to skate parks, I'm not very good at it yet but I'm working on it.

My home is warm and welcome to anyone who would like to stay. We just need a good amount of notice to plan it all out.

PHILOSOPHY

Being bold in life is something that roller derby has given me. I'm going through a big transition right now and I feel like if I wasn't strong and bold it would be much more difficult.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to host! I find that hosting is the best way to get to know and fall in love with an area. Plus I love to feed people.
To me its seeing the cities for their individual beauty and getting to know the locals that are the most important things about traveling with couch surfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent 5 days in Halifax, Nova Scotia, a city I have wanted to explore my whole life. Saw all the sights, visited some old friends, and had a grand old time!
I also hosted a lovely couple from Germany, through our little hurricane irene storm, and a couple of friends from Poland. Showing them all the sights and lights of the city as best I could. We also hosted a lovely lady from South Korea, we didnt want her to leave!

Interests

Roller Derby, trail roller skating, aggressive roller skating, rugby, yoga (I'm between beginner and intermediate), reading, hiking, cultures and customs, cooking, eating, snowboarding (I'm still learning), music, dancing, fashion, ADVENTURE, shenanigans, new experiences, scenic views (I'm always trying to top the best views I've seen), and I've always been interested in volunteering abroad and have never really know how to go about doing it

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies would be Into the Wild, Easy A, The Devil Wears Prada, The Saw movies, Ratatouille, The Strangers, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, The lovely Bones, The Debaters, Invictus, Forever Strong.

Music- I'm open to all types and style but I mostly listen to alternative rock, stuff like Metric and Mumford and Sons. I'm not fanatic about any one band, I just really enjoy music.

Books- I love to read books that change perspective or provide perspective. Life of Pi, The Decameron, Come Back.

I'm a massive fan of Doctor Who. Just a warning, I watch and rewatch it constantly and never tire of it. I'm currently working my way through the classic series that started in the 1960s.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working as a paramedic in Winnipeg one of my first patients was one in cardiac arrest. Theres nothing like working on a person for 20 minutes, and doing a check for a pulse, and finding it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Medicine is something I am so desprately passionate about, mainly prehospital medicine, and I am willing to give anybody pointers on first aid. I want to hear about peoples life experiences, and their skills and hobbies.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A warm bed, good food, good company.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Dominican Republic

Countries I’ve Lived In
