About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel around Indonesia...

ABOUT ME

A broad variety of interests is what keeps me going in life. We most probably have something in common!
I enjoy playing and making music so if you're a musician, let's jam...

Even though I studied and worked in engineering I try to change my life in favor of the environment and conservation. For that, I try to use my engineering skills where I can but I also like to just have a clear head and grow vegetables in my garden without all the complex technical stuff.

The world and its beauty are disappearing and I want to try to conserve what's out there.
I believe this is up to the people and the need to change their minds...

(I live/travel together with my wife Natalia, she is also on Couchsurfing https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/natalia_23)

PHILOSOPHY

We'll see...and honestly, I like the slogan of CS because it happened so many times already: you have friends everywhere, you just haven't met them yet...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just love the idea of meeting locals, staying in their homes, and also giving travelers a place to stay as a local myself to create a better world for travelers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Been hosting and surfing for 10 years now. The most awesome travels and the amazing people I met all happened while Couchsurfing. That's simply why I keep doing this over and over again...

Interests

Music (listening, playing, and producing)
Traveling
Documentaries
Technology
Electronics
Movies
Series

I'm definitely a non-fiction person. There are so many documentaries and books out there that try to tell us the truth in a media influenced world full of lies, so why ignore them and watch/read some fantasy stories instead?
It's time for the truth to be told so people can take action and live consciously, knowing what they eat, where their food comes from, what's in it, the pressure they put on planet Earth etc etc...
I can talk about this and related subjects quite deeply so be my guest and let's share opinions!

Music, Movies, and Books

Guitar music as well as electronic music (very wide taste and as a musician I can relate to many genres)
HBO series, docu's...
I'm not much of a book reader but if I do I'll read non-fiction, mostly technology, climate or travel-related.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Me and my wife swimming alone with 4 whale sharks in the Philippines when the big masses were still unaware of this place (2011). Because of social media and people being careless - like posting the location of your whale shark pictures on Instagram and basically inviting millions of people to go there and putting pressure on these lovely animals - such a great experience is not possible anymore.

- Traveled through Canada for 2 months.

- Did a small part of the GR20 in Corsica on my Nike sneakers :) hope I can do the full route one day...

- Bought a tandem bike with Natalia in Madrid, cycled from Madrid to Valencia with it, experienced Las Fallas. Then continued cycling the Spanish coastline from Valencia all the way to Málaga. Total of 1250 km in 3 weeks.

- Moved to Indonesia and be the first foreigner in the village since the colonization of the Dutch people. Belgian colonization is happening!

- Lived in Greece for 3,5 months and met amazing people and organizations.
