About Me

CURRENT MISSION

absorbing and learning from the energies of others, in all their diversity

ABOUT ME

Well, you can get a bit of an idea about me from my interests. I'm mostly into earthy stuff though I'm not an earth mother. I'm sociable and love the exchange of ideas. I like life to present new things all the time. When younger I did lots of travelling and was addicted to excitement of the unknown, and also being the adventurer living on my wits. I'm pretty analytical, which is why I work in IT, but technology doesn't fascinate.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm fairly strong on respect for the earth i.e. I choose products that are low on packaging, I compost most things, buy recycled clothing/furniture etc where possible and don't like pouring chemicals down the drain...etc so I prefer others who stay here to do the same. I also read what is on packets and I prefer local produce e.g. MADE IN NEW ZEALAND. I'm not fanatical though, so don't be scared!!
Philosophy - currently into the 'The Power of Now' - if you know it I need say no more.

Interests

Any list is much too limiting, but here goes: I have passion for textiles (actually an obsession!). Anything around those subjects interests me, including basketry, paper making, sewing, dyeing. Also: architecture and 3-dimensional spaces; photography; design; anything to do with pattern and colour. I like finding out about the traditional way things have been made. I prefer natural materials. Then I could go on to other subjects like music, philosophical ideas, cultural and historical viewpoints, ways to be in tune with the natural flow of life, astrology.... so stay with me and we can discuss all the above and more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I visited a place called Djanet in the Sahara desert, in Algeria. It was a mission to get there but really worth it. The Sahara is a place full of beauty and mystery for me, which I have felt since reading Antoine de St Exupery's book 'Wind, Sand and Stars' when I was 11.

Teach, Learn, Share

You might want to learn how your clothes are made, from the fibres to the spinning, weaving and dyeing, then the sewing... or how the design was put on the cloth. We are surrounded by textiles, yet most people know nothing about them.
I'm currently growing some basket willows, and want to learn how to manage them and then make willow baskets.
I also am making fruit wines and would love to discuss with others the finer points of the process to improve what I do.
What could be more satisfying than growing your own materials/ingredients, then producing amazing items from them!

Countries I’ve Visited

Algeria, Austria, Burkina Faso, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, Fiji, France, Gambia, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mali, Malta, Morocco, New Caledonia, Niger, Palestine, Senegal, Spain, Syrian Arab Republic

Countries I’ve Lived In
