About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To ramble and to rove.

ABOUT ME

I'm very easy going. And very adventurous. My mom says that unlike most kids, I was the sort who would take off in a shopping mall and never look back. So she had to have a constant eye on me anytime we'd go out. I've never outgrown that characteristic of who I am.

It use to scare her back then, but now I think that she enjoys hearing story's of my wanderings. My step dad calls me Moses. Anyways I said all that to say that I have a Ponce de Leon heart. Put me on the trail and I wont turn back till either the natives have killed me or I've found the fountian of youth.
(bright smiles)

PHILOSOPHY

Peace Be With You.

Sounds dumb, but ever since I heard people saying it to each other at church--during that time labeled "The Passing of the Peace," I have liked it. "Why only say it while in a suit at church?" I said to myself.

So May The Peace Of Christ Be With You. And With You As Well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I kick back and enjoy the ride. Like a good Scout I do my best to be a good guest. If I could host right now I would.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is insane. But it was so much fun and one of my better memories. After I graduated college I was stuck living in this tiny southern town. So for adventure I would drive an hour to Athens on Friday nights. This was my mission. Hook up with some strangers and talk them into letting me crash at their place for the night. I absolutely didn't want a one night stand or anything like that. I just wanted to earn some random strangers trust so I would have a place to crash and a story to tell. I met so many cool people doing that.

Music, Movies, and Books

"Hopping Frieght Trains in North America" by Duffy Littlejohn is an awesome book. This is will give you enough knowledge to not kill yourself in the train yard. You'll need something else to produce the courage to jump the train.

"Living Stories of the Cherokee" by Barbara R. Duncan. Features myths and legends told by several modern day Cherokee story tellers. This one really had me daydreaming. But not as much as "Into The Wild." by John Kraukour~that book. . . So spectacular.

"Rushmore" by Wes Anderson is my favorite movie. I connect with it on so many different levels. Everything from Max's pursuit of a girl completely out of his league, to his inablity to fight off bullies, to having all those interests and yet not excelling in any particular one. . . Dude. Its like this character is my twin brother or something.

Music? Homespun folksy music is the best. I love Storyhill. Mason Jennings and Early Bob Dylan are good as well. I am very eclectic and will listen to almost anything. Classic rock, Old Country and Independent labels are my cup of tea.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been on countless adventures full of stories packed full of crazy hitchhikers, strange places and weird stuff. I don't feel its necessary to share any one of those particular stories on this page. But if you want to hear about how I was a rodeo clown, or the crazy hermit who thought he was Jesus, or surfing a Mazda in Hawaii, Then I'd be willing to trade some of those tales for some of yours while we are couchsurfing together.

Teach, Learn, Share

I hopped a boxcar for the first time in October 2007. It was the best thing since learning how to ride a bike when I was a kid. I rode it from Clinton, Iowa 13 hours to Fremont, Nebraska.
That would be the greatest couch surfing experience ever. .

Let's hop a freight train together. . .
Or not.
