About Me

CURRENT MISSION

seeing the world and hearing good music

ABOUT ME

i do international investment research, dj, and i'm a freelance music writer. i'm about to fill up my passport which i'm pretty thrilled about. i speak several foreign languages and love speaking them in the places they're actually spoken (though the internet is a great resource).

PHILOSOPHY

the great spirit gave you two eyes, two ears, and one mouth. remember to look and listen twice as much as you speak. - geronimo naranja (tewa pueblo)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i've generally benefited from people being cool and open and this seems like another level. it's also good to have a sense of trust and people who can say "yeah i've been to that place and it's cool, someone showed me around." and staying in hotels blows if you're not 50.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

whether inebriated or not, sleeping on couches has never been too terrible of an experience for me. i clean up after myself and have been known to do dishes that weren't even mine.

Interests

music, baseball, rugby, local food (even bugs, see youtube korea video), foreign languages.

Music, Movies, and Books

historical fiction and documentaries, i don't read many books but i'm up on my current events and i read mostly in french or spanish when i do read fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i once started whistling a wandering melody in a taxi in china and the driver started whistling along with me. it was a pretty beautiful experience. whistling is nice, especially when birds do it. ipods get annoying sometimes and keep you from hearing what's around you, but i do like having that sort of connection with music, hey i listened to this at home yesterday and now i'm somewhere foreign but i have this with me and there's continuity, this is my world.

Teach, Learn, Share

i usually have my computer when i travel so i'll give you lots of music! i want yours too.

Countries I’ve Visited
