About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live fiercely and love deeply. And the other way around.

ABOUT ME

She has a voice of gladness, and a smile
And eloquence of beauty, and she glides
Into his darker musings, with a mild
And gentle sympathy, that steals away
Their sharpness, ere he is aware.
~"Thanatopsis", William Cullen Bryant

"I consider myself a self-aware, left-wing person who's not afraid to recognize the selfishness and contradictions that come on the left. I think a lot of people who are on that side really fail to do that a lot of the time."
~Christian Lander (Stuff White People Like)

"Women have naturally a readier wit for good or evil than men, although it fails them when they set about deliberate reasoning."
~Cervantes

"No intentes amarrarme, ni dominarme
Yo soy quien elige como equivocarme"
~Shakira, "Gitana"

"Something about a Southern girl make me feel right
In a Mississippi morning, she's an angel in flight
In a blink of an eye, she'll be out of your sight"
~Amos Lee, "Southern Girl"

"Women are the guardians of continuity. If the hearth moves, they move with it. Remember, it is the gypsy women who keep their men on the road."
~Jimmy Buffett

"Me? I'm the evil mastermind behind the scenes. I'm the wicked puppeteer who pulls the strings and makes you dance. I'm your writer."
~Grant Morrison, Animal Man 26

PHILOSOPHY

Use your head, trust your gut, but always follow your heart.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Spreading the CS love.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Got a whirlwind crash course in hosting as everybody seems to be doing their cross-country roadtrips and are either coming from or going to New Orleans via Austin.

I had the opportunity to surf in Central and South America. All of them were great experiences.

My second home is Argentina, where my first contacts in San Miguel de Tucuman were surfers. They made me feel at home and I miss them terribly.

I'm back in DFW - not nearly as fun as Austin, but doing the best I can to keep the CS alive.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I scuba dived in Cozumel and Utila.

I visited a hidden Mayan sacrificial burial site.

I watched the sunset at the Grand Canyon, and then watched the sunrise the next morning.

I shook hands with Stan Lee.

I watched the season finale of Lost season 5.

I watched Barack Obama become the President of the United States in a small hotel room in Mexico. I went to the downstairs bar to have a celebratory margarita, and I saw a bunch of fellow Americans doing the same thing.

I white-water rafted to an eco-lodge where I spent the night in a hydroelectric bungalow, showered outside, and ziplined through the canopy.

I hiked up from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. And from there, I climbed up another mountain. Did I mention that I'm terrified of heights?

I've seen the end of the world.
