Hi,

I'm Shaheer.

I have an IT/CS background yet I'm an author by profession. I have travelled to Tunisia, Egypt, Azerbaijan, KSA, UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, Srilanka and Maldives. Here's an excerpt from my book which summarizes my philosophy of life.

"There's one thing I've learned, it's the journey that matters, not the destination."

During my travel to these countries, it came upon me that learning about a country and its people via the internet is a thoroughly different ordeal than the real meets and face-to-face time with people. Gladly, early in my life I realized that how much travelling is important to enjoy the life to its full potential. And more importantly I noticed that my way of life is not the only right way of life. For me, travelling built inter-religion and cross-cultural harmony which is much needed in the world we're living in.

Other than the popular places and tourist spots of a country, I try to visit its villages and small towns as well. Access to such areas is a difficult task though, but meeting people who live far away from the city life provides some unique insights into the true cultural essence of the country.

Though not via CouchSurfing, but I have stayed with locals at their homes previously (and vice versa) and those were amazing experiences.

I've always wanted to host travellers and tourists visiting from other countries. And similarly wanted to stay with locals while travelling to other countries and places. I just didn't know about CouchSurfing existence. It has made it so much easier and that's why I joined CouchSurfing.
