About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Sharing my knowledge and giddiness with as many new friends as possible.

ABOUT ME

I'm an adventurous Australian who loves all mediums of art and is finicky with grammar.

I create many kinds of mixed artworks; skewed towards photography and video production. I am vegetarian and have quite a passion for desserts. I really love to experiment with food and try new tastes.

I work in support and product development for Viddler. In other words, I make people ridiculously happy when they use our service. I started working for the company because I have a huge passion for video and the community surrounding motion pictures. I record lots of videos; I hope you're comfortable with that. I'm a professional photographer on the side. I photographed headshots for actors at a talent agency in Australia. I love to photograph architecture, nature, and people; broad enough? :P

I like to travel as much as possible. Exploring new worlds is fascinating to me. I'm originally from Australia, but I've been living in the USA since 2010. I spent a year traveling the USA in 2008, and met some of my greatest and most creative friends during the adventure. I'm always looking for more fun like that.

Interesting facts:
• After a few years of experimentation, I find I get the best sleep when I sleep on the floor (carpeted or hard). Many people find it unusual, but that's just how my wacky body rolls.
• I absolutely love nature and do my best to keep it as pristine as possible. I don't own a car, I usually have cold showers, I compost, etc. Some might call this a hippy lifestyle, but I just think it's how everyone should be. That said, I prefer a suit/tuxedo over shorts and sandals any day.
• I don't drink alcohol, smoke, or participate in any other kind of inhibiting drug. I don't require any medications. My drugs are cake, lollies, and chocolate.

PHILOSOPHY

Be giddy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm currently working at building a lovely guest room for future couchsurfers. I love listening to peoples' stories, so I'm looking forward to accepting some folks soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent about a year couchsurfing the USA in 2008. I stayed friends I met online a year or two prior. It was such a spectacular year and I formed some really great friendships during that time.

In recent years, I usually couchsurf via Airbnb. I've had some unfathomably fantastic experiences with Airbnb hosts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

*One* amazing thing? Discovering life. I've been able to step back, look at life, and marvel at how spectacular it is.

Here's two things to be more specific:
1. I made a new friend in 2013 who gives life-changing hugs.
2. At 1:00am on the 14th of February, 2014, I went outside and slide around in the snow. There was a thick layer on everything. Sliding up and down the empty streets all along was exhilarating. I saw a girl cross-country skiing down the streets. After about an hour of walking around, I built my first snowman. It was so much fun that I was overwhelmed with joy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love sharing my knowledge and experiences with others. I've never officially taught a subject, but I've mentored several friends in the art of photography and videography. It's such a great feeling to see them using those skills on their own and creating spectacular art with it.

I also know quite a lot about cooking and baking. I've been able to pass along some fun recipes of my own to those I've been honoured to stay with.
