About Me
I try to learn as much as I can, take advantage of each moment in life and I am always looking for ways to make the world a better place for everyone!
I am a big proponent of personalized learning, I volunteer as much as I can, I love traveling, I love the outdoors - biking, hiking, climbing, gardening...
In addition to my education and research related to stars and stuff (astrophysics), I am a certified PT/group fitness instructor and an avid yogi, having completed Y.O.G.A. for Youth teacher training program, among other things.
I am originally from Finland, where I got used to beautiful nature, but I ended up spending nearly five years in Paris, France, getting used to a big city living and traveling around Europe. Then life took me to North Carolina State University in Raleigh, USA, and more traveling around the world. The past couple of years I've been mostly staying on the road around the globe, volunteering and working on educational and inclusive innovation as a digital nomad.
Anything related to self improvement and enhancing the life quality for all people makes me tick!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Whenever I travel, I want to take advantage of the occasion and learn more about the area and its people from a local perspective. It has turned out that couchsurfing is the best way to get to know the area I'm visiting and meeting new, open-minded and wonderful people! I've made so many lasting friendships with total strangers and learned so many new things this way that I could not think of spending another night in an empty hotel room.
In general, I completely understand how hectic life can be (oftentimes I am quite busy working on various projects myself), but I always make effort to get to know my hosts and help them anyway I can. I do my very best to respect the space and time of my hosts and adjust to their schedules and living habits. I feel it's the very least that any surfer should do.
In that spirit, I prefer to share stories with new people, "travel like a local" and support local people and communities directly. If a couch is not available, I am also open for having a cup of good coffee, going for a climb, hike or a bike ride or simply discuss life and all the wonders it has to offer (and share experiences related to any of the listed interests and beyond)!
