Part of me thinks you should make the most of the time you have here - try what you want to try and don't be scared that things might not go as you planed. The other part is just to lazy to live by that.

The experience from traveling is somehow fuller, when you meet someone who can show you around or with whom you can just chat with. Sure - not every host will be your friend, but sometimes (s)he will and your trip suddenly isn't just about being in a place B instead of place A.
