ABOUT ME
The thing people tell me most often is that I am laid back and have a calming, chill demeanor. At this moment in life (having just graduated college) I am adventure oriented, and looking for a wide variety of new experiences and I am really looking forward to meeting new people. I have had a bunch of really awesome experiences in the past several years (among them studying abroad twice, going on a ten day silent meditation retreat, and getting to be a part of the protest movement in Wisconsin) and love telling stories and even more so love listening to them. Lastly, I am very community oriented and try to keep a communal sentiment present in most settings I am in.
PHILOSOPHY
don't worry be happy
care about each other
always do what your most scared of
...just to name a few that come to mind
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
When I was living in a house I had a couple couch surfers stay at my place. I just moved out though and will not be able to host for some time to come.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Have been a member for two years and have hosted a couple of people in my college house, and have been surfing several times. I have had nothing but positive experiences with couchsurfing.
Interests
The three big ones at this moment are music (I am a drummer and love playing/listening to music), community (and everything involved in that) and life, meaning trying to see/experience/do what I can.
- meditation
- music
- surfing
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: main type of music I listen to and play is jazz funk (ie galactic, toubab krewe etc) but am open to the vast majority of music.
Books: currently reading the Enigma of Capital. I have become really interested in the workings (and in my opinion failures/injustices) of capitalism and am trying to study up as much as possible on the economic workings of it.
Movies: cliche but the matrix
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For the past several months I have lived with a revolutionary group in Mexico called the Zapatista's. All community based, anti-capitalist and autonomous from the mexican government. It has been one of the best learning experiences of my life. This year should also prove to be chock fulled of stories and good times.
Teach, Learn, Share
While I cannot definitively say one skill I can teach, I can share my stories, and the things I have seen and learned, and in doing so hope that others will share their stories with me.
