About Me

CURRENT MISSION

On a Watson Fellowship to discover why kids in youth orchestras are passionate about music

ABOUT ME

I am a person who wants to change the world by teaching young people, I enjoy being outside rather than in, crunching leaves under my feet in autumn, cozying up with a cup of hot cocoa in winter, smelling daffodils in spring, and running barefoot in the grass in the summer. I studied music education and am having fun traveling for a year.

PHILOSOPHY

I think I was born with a lot of extra seratonine; basically, I feel incredibly lucky with all of the opportunities this life has given me, and I am constantly amazed at how many doors have been opened to me in my travels--I think good energy attracts other good energy, so I try to say "Yes!" to as many positive things in life as I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have recently been getting to know the CS community in Caracas, and have been extremely impressed by how open and friendly everyone is...very cool.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed for the first time in Barinas, Venezuela, and met the most amazing family there...I got introduced to CS by Erin, from Canada, who hooked me into it while we were both traveling in Spain a year ago. My closest friends in Venezuela are from the CS community.

Interests

Reading, going to plays, walking in the echoing halls of museums, listening to concerts, absorbing public art, making beer-bottle-cap earrings, jumping on the trampoline, playing trumpet, running, running, running, every day...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got to see an active volcano put out rivers of red-hot lava in the early night-time, glowing red and orange just behind me, in Guatemala...that was pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Simplest way to remove stains from white clothing: take a bar of white Dove soap, put the clothing item under warm water, and scrub with the dove soap and your fingernails until the stain comes out. It works. Every time. If you can't muster up the patience to keep scrubbing, try pouring boiling water over the stain, or put on lemon juice and put it in the sun...
