ABOUT ME

Hello, everyone! My name is David, and I am a 24-year-old recent university graduate. At Yale, I studied Russian and Eastern European Studies & Computer Science. I have been living in Warsaw and Kyiv for the last two years on two different academic fellowships, often traveling between the Baltics, Minsk and Russia, as well. I'll be back in Kyiv this fall as I prepare to apply for PhD programs.

I love to travel, eat, watch (and discuss) films, read (though finding the time is no easy task) and learn new languages.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm really excited about speaking with and meeting new people all around the world, and especially about practicing different languages with them. And it couldn't hurt to have a place to stay during some of my adventures!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a sucker for the Princess Bride and Before Sunrise.

As for music it varies a lot depending on what I'm doing and what mood I'm in, but I'll forever be a Blondie fan!

Books: there are perhaps too many to count, but I've always loved Mikhail Bulgakov's Master and Margarita, contemporary Russian poets, Italo Calvino, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Studied abroad in Paris and Saint-Petersburg!

Teach, Learn, Share

Very specific facts about history! -- what else could you ask for.
