Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Last year we travelled to Belarus and met people from CS every single day, sleeping on floors and visiting bars - even the most closed countries in the world are open on Couchsurfing.

Spent a few days with a fantastic Host in Bilbao, Spain and discovered the unexpected generosity of this community - more than the places he showed me and the people I met on that journey, the fact that he was willing to show me them was the most shocking and thought-provoking part of the experience.

And then in California, LA and San Francisco I came across a pair of hosts who were willing to look well past the fact that I was only 19, to treat me as a person and not as a student or as a traveller or as a teenager. They opened their homes, lifestyles and personalities to me and let me take what I needed.
