ABOUT ME

I like llamas. and Lego. And unicycles. And llamas made from lego who ride unicycles. That's about it really.....

No no, I also like lots of other things, and do lots of other things. Being vague is one of them.

PHILOSOPHY

A great teacher of mine once told me that the day you stop learning is the day you start dying. This has stuck with me, and I have an unquenchable thirst for anything at all, as long as it keeps my mind kicking along and questioning the world around me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Have surfed, hosted, and travelled with numerous people since 2007.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lots of surfing, some hosting, a couchsurfing wedding in Indonesia, lots of social networking.

Interests

Cooking, distance unicycling, unicycle touring, mountain unicycling, listening to music, playing music (i play bass trombone, piano, melodica, some other stuff), devil sticks, hiking, fishing, herpetology, archery, mountain biking, rock collecting, a brew or two....

Music, Movies, and Books

I will listen to absolutely everything, although I do have a particular like for the following:

Jazz: bill evans, frank sinatra, sammy davis jnr, herbie hancock, miles davis, charles mingus, the hoodangers, count basie, glenn miller, django reinhardt, joe chindiamo, gonzalo rubalco.

Classical: Shostakovich, Mahler, Chopin, Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Bach, Wagner, Holst, to name but a few.

Other: rolling stones, beatles, hunters and collectors, the cat empire, the turtles, the clash, the specials, reel big fish, george clinton and P-funk, U2, REM, gotye, etc etc

electronic: anything i can have a good dance to....

Movies: I'll watch anything if i'm stuck inside.

Books: I like reading non-fiction, books that make me think about the world around me......

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watch the sun rise over the horizon on the southern ocean in the morning, and set over the horizon that night, without sighting land or another vessel the entire day. I saw this when I was crewing a fully rigged tall ship off the south eastern coast of australia. In the scale of things it really makes you realise how damn small you are.

Unicycle around north-eastern India. Unicycle around Central Mongolia. Unicycle around southern China.

Teach, Learn, Share

Did you know that the eruption of subaqeous fire fountain lavas results in the formation of a distinctive volcanic facies known as fluidal-clast breccia? It is a pretty damn sexy rock......

Or, let's go for a walk outside, and you will soon come to understand how passionate I am about the field of science I have chosen as my profession/(obsession).....
