About Me
CURRENT MISSION:
Trying to learn how to keep being a -decent- teacher!... No-one ever leaves life school since we all should keep learning !
So this means, 2019-2020 I'll swap the classroom for South-America, in order to bring back some of it. Totally makes sense. Which means I'm abroad and will be hosted more than host. Thanks already and sorry for those I can't have over back in Neuch ;-)
ABOUT ME
Easy going and friendly person. I like reading, looking at maps (yes! and for hours!...), going to the theater, walking, running, playing volley or tennis, dancing salsa and, VERY important: hanging out and drinking a beer or wine with friends and interesting people who like to talk things over about the world and how to save it!
And travelling of course, as long as I can talk to local people.
I am totally into everything which has to do with Spain or spanish-talking places.
PHILOSOPHY
Conserva tus sueños, nunca sabes cuando te harán falta.
Aunque a veces, no me cunde la vida :-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
A house can never be too full. And it's good for you to meet new people, to learn that they tell me about themselves in terms of homecountry environnement or mentality...
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I hosted people from Switzerland, obviously (hotels simply are not affordable here!) and if you come from elsewhere and have time... I encourage you to visit Neuchâtel for one or two days, it's small but very pretty!!
All my own surfings were very good eCSperiences (Madrid, New-York, Bilbao, Paris, London... I probably forget some) I travelled less since I started working but I miss it so much that I'm about to go on a sabbatical year to south America. Especially when you travel alone, the one-to-one contact is absolutely essential to get the most of what you're visiting. I hate hotels. And sometimes hostels are not much better, when you start the same conversation one evening after the other ...
Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Como agua para chocolate; El corazón helado; les Falsificateurs and Harry Potter, 11/22/63 (by Stephen King, a total MUST), Yo Confieso de Jaume Cabré... Tigres de Cristal (Toni Hill)
And soooooo many more! I'm about to switch to an electronic book to save some weight in the luggage but don't know still if I feel good or bad about it :- P
Movies:
Le labyrinthe de pan, Match point, Forrest gump, Redemption of Shawshank, I Daniel Blake, A straight Story...
It feels always harder to make a proper selection, actually!
Music (a bit easier since I'm not a specialist)
Of Monsters and Men, Mumford and Sons, Angus and Julia Stone, Imany, James Blunt, Eric Clapton, Arcade Fire, Temples, Cloud Control (dont' know them? just try!), Amy Macdonald and Amaral are always nice, ...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My analytical mind is unable to make rankings of the cool and coolest and most cool things I've seen/done.
Teach, Learn, Share
Laaaanguages!
Conversations that allow us to understand a little bit more about the complexity of our world and planet (which stage worries me a bit too much, sometimes...)
A couple of years ago I wrote "I can learn much more than teach" and although it's obviously still true, I feel like life has taught me some interesting things so far...
What I Can Share with Hosts
A decent home cooked (usually vegetarian) meal, sharing a glass of wine (or a bottle, actually!) and swiss chocolate (even if you can find it almost everywhere, let's say it doesn't taste the same ;-)
interesting conversation and offering hosting back, obviously!
