About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just had my first CS experience hosting some wonderful people from Turkey. It was a great time and opened me up to the idea of hosting more. Then we went a month or so later and visited them in Turkey. It was a great time. I have hosted a couple times. It is always more fun to host than it is to be hosted I think. But we enjoy both,

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My experience with Couchsurfing is sort of hit or miss. I have hosted once and it was a great time. I made some great friends, who I later went and stayed with in Istanbul. We attended a CS meeting/mixer there and it was a pleasant time. But the miss part is the literally hundreds of requests for couches, coffee, advice, etc, that have been unreturned. That is my only problem with couchsurfing is that I wish it was more reliable. But when it works out I think it is amazing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It is hard to narrow it down. Music really does it for me. There have been a few times when I have gone to a concert and on that particular nite the band was really on. And I don't just mean playing good. Its like they really get into the moment, and when you are there you become a part of it. Everything else just melts away. Its a pretty amazing feeling.

Teach, Learn, Share

I was a professional cook for about a decade. I still cook at home. I like cooking breakfast.

I want to learn languages. I took Spanish in high school and when I went to Costa Rica I thought I functioned well, I wasn't having deep philosophical conversations, but I could translate for my group if someone was trying to communicate to us.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Mexico, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Thailand, Turkey, United States
