ABOUT ME

Janelle grew up on a farm in the Midwest. After college she worked at a greenhouse and worked there until we moved to CA. Once in CA, she switched jobs and started teaching.

Doug grew up in Peoria, IL. He's worked a variety of jobs including: retail, construction, agriculture, engineering, a clerk in the U.S. Federal Courts, and as an aid at a home for disabled people. He went to college at the University of Illinois. He also went to Bradley University and the University of San Diego. He currently works as an attorney for a small law firm in Palm Desert, CA.

We've been married for 10 years. We both love the outdoors and anything to do with nature. We enjoy seeing creation at its finest. We love to meet new people and share our experiences. We can honestly say we have never regretted meeting somebody.

PHILOSOPHY

This is definitely a question that deserves more of an essay rather than a paragraph. Here are some quick thoughts though...

For one, we believe being humble enough to recognize we don't have all answers and learning from other people and situations is a daily part of life.
Two, we believe all people are created equal and deserve the same respect and esteem, no matter who they are or where they came from. It doesn't matter what your race, nationality, education, wealth or family background is.
Finally, the simpler life is, the happier you'll be

We enjoyed our Couchsurfing experiences in Europe! It was neat to meet people and get acquainted better with the culture of the countries we were visiting.

Janelle enjoys traveling, singing, teaching children, reading, cooking, scrap-booking, outdoor activities, and meeting new people.

Doug enjoys traveling, singing and music, nature, current events, business and legal issues and meeting new people. Striking up conversation with other people is great way to learn about others. A Proverb says "A man that hath friends must show himself friendly."

Books - Janelle likes reading about real life stories. Doug mostly reads law textbooks, but has found time to read "The Lexus and the Olive Tree" by Thomas Friedman on a recommendation from someone. Doug also reads The Economist from time to time.

Doug has traveled in the UK & China. We have also seen many areas of the US. We hiked Mt. Whitney together 5 years ago. In Europe we traveled to many different countries including France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Hungary, and Germany.
