Über mich
Lived most of my life in Singapore, and spent 4 years living in Melbourne. Got a whole new perspective on life, and now on a journey with no end (see one amazing thing I've done).
I believe in a Universe that is perfect beyond my imagination, and to grasp even a pinch requires that that I live beyond my imagination in comfort boundaries.
Even try to love it.
I am a voracious learner and everyday I believe there is something to learn either of the world or of myself, and in that perhaps of the Universe.
So I have a philosophy that for everything I encounter, if in its randomness I might find some order, if in its ugliness I might find a hint of beauty, if in its contradictions I might find silent harmony - if in its imperfections I might glean perfection - then perhaps that day I have learnt something.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
Music:
I am fond of electronic ambient like anything from Album Leaf and M83, dreamy postrock sounds like Brian Eno; grand theatrical and haunting vocals like The Irrepressibles' Arrow, Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights, and Dead Can Dance's Sanvean and Host of Seraphim (Lisa Gerrard); I get into the emotive mature vocals of John Grant's Glacier and not-as-mature Miley Cyrus' We Can't Stop (yes, her); repetitive mantras of the Buddhist and Hindu persuasion. The Beatles, David Bowie and when my mood feels it, 60s dancealong.
Movies & Books:
I love documentaries that are uplifting, humbly respectful yet sound and level headed: BBC's Planet Earth and How To Grow A Planet; films that are strikingly creative and with understated stories, especially the trilogy by Ron Fricke: Samsara, Baraka, Chronos; adventures that are highly philosophical: Cloud Atlas, Inception.
I love content with broken protagonists and salvageable villains, like Maleficent, or that have extremely vivid inner lives, like Allie Brosh's Hyperbole and a Half. I'm especially drawn to magical realism and deeply symbolic prose, or poetic prose. Kahlil Gibran. Creative work that were born in defiance of the Canon - It is a dream of mine to be able to sit and finish Joyce's Finnegan's Wake.
But mostly I read nonfiction and academic literature in the humanities and social sciences. Favourite theorists: Castoriadis - his writing is neither trapped by the limits of structure nor of chaos; Carl Jung - he manages to capture the mystical within the value of science with such humility, temperance, and even magic.
