About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Complete school and see the world.

ABOUT ME

I am easy going, enjoy meeting people, and hearing what they think. I grew up with 6 other siblings, our house was always busy with visitors and new people. I mention this because as with my family one of our favorite things is to host visitors/friends.

PHILOSOPHY

This may sound cheesy (it is but I don't care) but I think everyone has something to contribute and has their unique experiences therefore I always like to hear what people think no matter how different it may be. In short, listening not dictating, is the best way of learning.

Interests

For personal interests: I love being outside, hiking, running, camping, the environment, science (primarily Geology and Astronomy), and art (sculpture primarily I taught woodturning/sculpture for 4 years).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On "amazing things", I have traveled to Antarctica as a Field Geologists for the National Science Foundation. We saw incredible ice bergs, ice sheets, penguins (Adele and Gentoo penguins), seals (Weddell, Leopard, and Fur seals), whales (Minke and Humpbacks whales), and obviously the most important, some great rocks. I do hope to return someday soon.

Although great as it was to visit the best thing for me was giving talks to local schools and showing kids pictures and experiencing their enthusiasm and interest.

Teach, Learn, Share

Mmm, as a Geologist, I can share information on the Earth, its history, past climate, etc.

On art I don't know much about it but I appreciate it very much. After 8 years of hobby woodworking I taught woodturning/sculpture at a local community arts center and had a go at a business selling crafts at art shows and farmer's markets. I also grew up working for my family's construction company so if you need to know how to build house/structure I can help.
