About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To see as much of the USA as possible, to avoid the Texas summer, to make as many friends as I can and to leave nothing in my tank by the time fall sets in.
ABOUT ME
I am a person who loves. My first love is the word--written and spoken English. I love seeing and hearing words beautifully cast, and I try my hand at the art here and there. I intend to be documenting some of my road adventures over at http://deliverators.typepad.com.
I am tall, funny, with a deep voice, a beard and longish hair. I'm well-read and passionate about things political, but I am a radical, an anarchist, a class struggle individualist and work democratic sex-economist freakout artist. Basically, I'm a revolutionary party of one. I am intensely interested in knowing about the lives of people, the political struggles and hot times where YOU are. Fun times of a more laid back nature are also appreciated.
I am also interested in spiritual technology and journeys in self-awareness. Psychonautics is an interest, and I'll be giving Tarot readings as a busk. Hosts, naturally, are entitled to in-depth readings as needed or desired.
I love this site, because it supports (inadvertently?) my vision of anarchy: a world of friends, family and neighbors.
PHILOSOPHY
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.
-Aleister Crowley, The Beast 666
Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.
-J. R. "Bob" Dobbs
All propositions are true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense and true and false and meaningless in some sense.
-RAW
Never miss an opportunity to have sex or appear on television.
-Gore Vidal
Insanity in individuals is something rare--but in groups, parties, nations and epochs it is the rule.
-FWN
All endorsements above are subject and expected to change. This is neither a necessary nor sufficient explanation of my personal philosophy, which can not be reduced to words. It must instead be lived.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm wholly on the consumption end at this time. I decided to light out because I got invited to try out for Jeopardy! at a time when I hated my job and wanted to move on from Dallas for the summer at least. I'm looking to stay cool and have some adventures, but when I get back to ground level, you better believe I'll be hosting asses on my couch.
I didn't after the last time I used the service, as I was living with my mom and our situation simply wouldn't allow it. I now rent a room in a house from a square in North Dallas. One way or the other, I intend to give back when I get my own spot.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I met some amazing people on my last journey in 2008. In Asheville I got hooked up with the Foti house and found a functioning bit of a revolutionary future living among us today. Alexi and the rest were real inspirations. I also stayed in Chris Trlica's stunning apartment and saw Dewey Cox for the first time (of 10,000 or so). Saw a little bit of CS love burgeoning too and met other travelers.
In Portland I contacted somebody (I can't remember who, sad to say) who pointed me to the Meg Perry Center where I met a friend (Peter) and through him many others. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, to be honest.

Music, Movies, and Books
I will list only three of each, not necessarily the top three (though you can bet they are all close). This is more an exercise in showing breadth than depth.
Movies: The Big Lebowski, Children of Men, Happiness
Music: Otis Redding, UGK, Lady Gaga
Books: 1984, Society of the Spectacle, Preacher (comic book by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The Connecticut River running fast after a summer afternoon storm, the late afternoon sun coming at the Vermont foliage sideways.
Making fast friends in Maine, hearing that I've been "nothing but a pleasure," knowing that I am worthy of respect then and forever.
New York City, one of nature's greatest wonders.
Sing alongs and whiskey beside a crystal clear lake, a trip in a backyard and on a porch, a life transformed.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can write pretty well, and indeed Robert Ebert called my writing "winsome poetry" and "astonishing." I thought that was pretty special. I'll have a piece in issue 383 of Fifth Estate (America's longest running anti-authoritarian publication). I think I have discovered that writing is rewriting, and I am happy to assess or edit any writing, such as I can.
I intend to busk with Tarot cards on the road this time, and I am very happy to read anybody who asks after reading this. I can explain some of the ideas behind the cards and their relationships to one another.
I can also bait a hook, wait tables, answer phones, thread a projector and I know a lot about a lot of things that aren't useful in any way. That is to say, I deal in abstraction and practical skills tend to escape me. This might be useful for Jeopardy!, but we'll see. Get me talking and I'm sure there is something we can learn from one another.
