About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Traveling the US by Rail

ABOUT ME

Born and raised in China. (Who isn't it?) I have lived in the US for three years. During the day I work as a school teacher, teaching mandarin. I spend lots of my free time playing music with friends and busking in the subway.

PHILOSOPHY

be kind, compassionate, curious and interesting!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have roommates, and we are only allowed to have over-night guests no more than 3 nights. Besides that I would be happy to host people on my couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am a couchsuring virgin.

Interests

I am a humble student of American folk music. Musicians such as Woody Guthrie, Jimmy Rodgers and Hank Williams are my heros. I just started busking in NYC subway recently, and is still on the process of building up my repertoire.
I started practicing Chinese marital art before I left for America. When I moved to Brooklyn, I was introduced to a grand master of Chen style taichi. It has been a fascinating experience learning the combat-applications hidden in the seemingly soft and peaceful moves. Moving to a Foreign country also makes me want to purse my heritage culture more actively.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am listing the first five things come to mind for each category
Movies: Big Fish, American Beauty, A Separation, Taxi Driver, Dancer in the Dark.
Book: 1985, Catch 22, River Town, My Journey to Lhasa, The Dharma Bums
Music: Lomax Field Recordings, Robert Johnson, Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Siberia for two years as a exchange student. One summer night, we went to an Island in the middle of the Lake Baikal to watch stars. They were bright as silver powder on a black tablecloth. That's the most amazing thing I have done.

Teach, Learn, Share

Many of my friends in Brooklyn happen to be musicians, but I enjoy meeting every human-being who is nice and kind, and listening to their stories.
