About Me

Hi everyone, my name is Dominik..

I grew up in a small village in Bavaria, Germany and moved at the age of 20 to Giessen, a city 50 km north of Frankfurt for university. In early 2004 left Germany for the first time towards Nicaragua to finish my studies before coming back for another two years in 2005. I finally left the country in 2008 when I got a job offer in Chennai, India. From 2010 onwards I am living and working in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

So I consider myself an open-minded global traveller 🌎, passionate about photography, all kind of sports, reading, and the world of wines. I also love to cook while listening to good music and experimenting with different spices and flavours.

Whenever I can I spend my free time walking in parks or trecking in the nearby mountains or just with reading or watching documentaries about foreign cultures and kitchen. Since I can remember I am interested in foreign countries, their cultures and habits..

As a young boy, I made a lot of bathtub travelling, later onwards at the beginning of my 20s I started to travel all around.. first in Europe and later onwards abroad. I love to meet as many people as possible on my trips to share experiences and make new friends along the way.

Together with my girlfriend we just started a new adventure recently.. leaving Argentina in November we are planning to travel for around a year throughout Asia and Oceania.

This is Gise's account which we mainly used for travels so far, https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/gmggja

Our life motto is pretty simple.. enjoy Your passions and live Your life !!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy spending time with people who love to travel listening to their stories, sharing a good glass of wine and having a good moment together..

Together with my beautiful couple Gisele, we love the idea of meeting a lot of people from different cultures and backgrounds to share our experiences and stories while cooking or having dinner together and perhaps even make new ones together!!

We appreciate a lot whenever we can stay at someones home and love when we are able to share our home with visitors and friends in the same way.

Interests

I am active and always looking to do something. I don't feel well if life is just routine and time flies by.. so I am taking the initiative to do things. While I rarely say no, I am always up for anything!!

Having great conversations, watching movies, cooking while enjoying a glass of wine, gardening, listening to music, opera, theatre, playing table games, doing all kind of sports, travelling, trecking, hiking, ...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I love most of the genres of music and music always walks along with me.. sometimes its Coldplay, then its Queen or Amy Winehouse.. I'm open to all kinds of music but especially Jazz, Classic Music or Music from the 80's I like most.

Books:
I am a passionate reader so there are some books I would recommend to read or read by myself. But most probably books based on a true story or about history are my primary interest.

Movies:
Very similar to the books' genres.. even if I would say that 'Léon - The Professional' is my all-time favourite movie

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In terms of travel, I would say driving down 5.200 km on the Ruta 40 from North to South Argentina was an incredible experience.

On the professional side installing water free urinals in an Argentine Antarctic Station ❄

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share experiences of about 20 years of travelling all over the world especially Latin America.. and some secrets about winery and wine tasting 🍷

Since it's never too late to learn I am always interested in something new and sharing experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm happy to share stories, experiences, maybe a different perspective of life, or just a good cup of coffee or wine. I'll be also glad to share dinner, brunch, breakfast or each type of food :))
