About Me

Hi I am Dominik :) 28yo, from Germany. I have moved a lot around Europe over the years and have lived in the UK, Belgium, Germany, Estonia and Austria in recent years. Now I work in Frankfurt (DE) as an IT-architect for the German federal government.

My primary way of travel has been bikepacking; I did 1300+ km tours along the Danube and Elbe respectively in 2020 and 2021. I also enjoy hiking a lot though (both short and long distances). Maybe I'll come by your corner of the world some day! ☺️

FYI I have stayed with couchsurfers a dozen additional times in multiple countries and hosted multiple times too, but mostly based on requests made through a friend/flatmate (as his profile was already filled to begin with, and we are frequently traveling together). So my profile is still regrettably empty of reviews 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, Couchsurfing is a neat way of meeting people form other walks of life and cultures that I'd ordinarily not cross paths with - whether it's as a guest at my home or meeting locals while abroad. And, honestly, it is amazing to find a warm bed for the night even in remote regions^^. I love being part of this community, and I'm always surprised how many of us are out there hosting people :)

Interests

I like various types of nerdy creative activities, reading, drawing, writing, TTPRGs. I run a regular SotDL campaign with friends.

In spare moments I mostly like to read, go out, see museums, run and hike, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

My absolutely preferred format are audiobooks - a good narrator adds a lot in my humble opinion. In terms of genre, I especially like fantasy, if possible with a humorous, smart, literary or grim-dark twist (favorite series: Gentleman Bastards, Kingkiller Chronicles, First Law, ...); but you can generally hook me with any good story in any format! I also write myself on occasion and would like to produce a novel at some point. Beyond that I read / listen to a lot of books on psychology, economics, politics and biology and other interesting topics I don't know enough about.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2018, some friends and I took an amazing trip across Eastern China, including some of the major cities as well as a few more remote places. It's a country with a really rich history and I very much would like to go back and see more some day!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to hear your view on the world; especially if you have lived a very different life from mine. Intellectually its always fascinating to realize that the person sitting on the opposite side of the table has, on some level, basically different assumptions about life, society and the world at large :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Some basic but good cooking / fancy but experimental cooking, entertaining conversation and sharing of anything I happen to carry with me.
