About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Making the most out of life

ABOUT ME

Sporty, philosophical, easygoing and sometimes-cynical optimist.
I work in policy (= government relations) for a youth charity, which means I get to meet lots of inspiring young people who are trying to improve their world (and some often less-than-inspiring politicians who aren't quite so laudable). I sometimes realise how lucky I am to get paid for what I do.
Outside work I mainly find myself juggling time between playing/watching sport, taking advantage of the amazing cultural opportunities in London and relaxing over a few beers with friends.

PHILOSOPHY

Looking for the best in everyone.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't surfed yet, but I hosted when I lived in my previous accommodation and had more space. All my friends who've done it have had great experiences.

Interests

Happiest when in the park making up games in the sun, devouring local cuisine in far-flung places, losing myself in the music and laughing at absurdity.

Music, Movies, and Books

The best books I've read this year have been Kundera - Farewell Waltz, Pullman - His Dark Materials and Fitzgerald - Tender is the Night.
Favourite films include The Dark Knight, Airplane, Million Dollar Baby.
Music - bit of an indie/rock fan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sizchuan hotpot (Chengdu, China) - the best meal I've ever had.
La Sagrada Familia (Barcelona) - I could have stood inside Gaudi's church and marvelled at it forever.
London 2012 - the Opening Ceremony was incredible (and I was lucky enough to be volunteering in the Stadium).
Japan 2014 - an unforgettable two-week exchange with my work. I cannot explain it here, but if you ask about it I will go on for hours!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: This is tricky, you might know more than me about all these things, but I do know a little bit about... the English language, UK politics, sport (and how to play some of it), the world, the internet!

Learn: I could happily learn more about everything.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd mostly like to share a lovely time and a feeling of humanity (I guess I mean the 'we were strangers a few minutes ago but I already love talking to and hanging out with you' feeling).

I will also share all the chores (obviously, they can be quite fun when shared.)

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Ghana, Greece, India, Japan, Kenya, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, Singapore, Spain, Togo, Turkey, Ukraine, United States, Zimbabwe

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom, Zimbabwe
