About Me

Born and raised in England and currently studying Engineering at Durham University.

One thing I want to remain constant about my character is for it to not remain constant. What I mean by this is I always want to make sure that my character is evolving. I want my opinions to be constantly challenged and changed and I find travelling is the best way to do that.
The only way for my views to grow is by meeting entirely new people, spending time in different places, and most importantly, experiencing different cultures.

“If someone is able to show me that what I think or do is not right, I will happily change, for I seek the truth, by which no one was ever truly harmed. It is the person who continues in his self-deception and ignorance who is harmed.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet new people and immerse myself into their culture, sometimes a local can achieve a hundred times better than any guidebook.

Interests

Photography and filming are big ones. For any new place or experience I will probably have the tourist-look with a camera round my neck.
I am also a mad lover of reading, especially on long journeys. I guess its like meeting people and hearing about their stories haha.
LGBTQ issues are also incredibly close to me, its something I dedicate a lot of my time to, and whether you have the same views as me or not, I'll always be interested hearing them.

Music, Movies, and Books

Always love rock and indie music, but also a sucker for tacky pop songs as well.
As long as its a good movie, I don't care what genre it is. I would never say no to a movie night and have binge watched far too many TV-shows (and yet always up for seeing them once more).
Typically into thrillers for books when it comes to fiction, but have spent a nearly a year making my way through A Song of Ice and Fire.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A Rubik's Cube

Teach, Learn, Share

One of my best ever experiences was climbing Taishan at night with three people I had met that even, one from Hunan, one from Shenzhen and the other from Shanghai.

I learned about where they were from and they gave me tips about the places I was visiting on my trip around China. I taught them about the sights as we climbed up Taishan (a mountain I had researched extensively on beforehand) with my trusted Lonley Planet Guide.

We shared one of the best experiences of my lifetime, seeing the sunrise in such a communal and peaceful atmosphere, at the mountain's summit. I only knew them that night and yet somehow, they became one of the parts of it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer my constant enthusiasm to dive into any into any part of the culture. I try and break any boundaries I have; where I go, what events I take part in, what I eat, I am constantly trying to push myself. Especially with my one major boundary which is heights. Hopefully one day I won't be as fearful of them!
