About Me

**I cannot accept guests in my current accommodation**

By day I'm a Mechanical Engineer and by night I coach Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) and Movement, strength & conditioning classes. I'm always active but take time out to see friends old and new. I've travelled a fair bit, but not enough... Enjoy taking photos, even though I'm a bit crap at it.

I've haven’t been living in Stockholm for long but loving it so far!

I'm easy to talk to, don't take life too seriously and love hearing stories from people of different walks of life, the crazier the story the better! I'm also a bit of an open book and say things exactly as they are so "reserved" is not a word commonly used to describe me. I'm an unusual combination of athlete/hippy/nerd/Labrador/wannabe entrepreneur, so I can find common ground with almost anyone.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

An avid couchsurfer friend of mine swears by Couchsurfing and I've met a few nice people that were visiting him so I thought why not give it a go.

I really enjoy being around the enthusiasm of tourists (or any enthusiastic people for that matter) as they help you appreciate what you have in front of you every day. When I go on holidays myself, I love discovering the lesser worn path, so for karmic purposes, I give tourists the same treatment with the hope that the same thing will happen me.

Hosting people really makes you appreciate where you live as it's easy to become accustomed to your surroundings, so every time I show somebody around, I get that feeling of being a tourist again and it's like being on holidays myself!

Music, Movies, and Books

A very wide taste in music, from metal/rock (Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Metallica, Bob Dylan...) to progressive electronic (James Lavelle, Sasha, James Zabilia...), my go-to music for all occasions is traditional Irish (Dubliners, Christy Moore, The Gloaming...). I love the sound of the Cello and bands such as Apocalyptica or 2Cellos are amazing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I did a 36 mile obstacle race in Scotland to raise money for charity. It wasn't as hard as I expected, so on the lookout for a more extreme challenge, probably in some distant country! I'm currently in training for the Worlds Toughest Mudder in November 2017, which is an 24 hour endurance obstacle race in the Nevada Desert, Las Vegas so I'm both excited and a little bit scared of that!

One thing that I really want to do is to act in a fight scene in a movie. I've been an extra in Game of Thrones but all I had to do was stand there and look not very pretty (I was a "Wight" which is a Wildling brought back from the dead by the White Walkers). If you can help me make this happen, let me know!

Teach, Learn, Share

As you may see from some of my reviews, I'm always keen for people to try out Muay Thai at the club I teach at, but if that's not your cup of tea, I also have a small obstacle race training club that I'd love for people to come along to which is a non-profit and donations go to the Tribe Animal Sanctuary in South Lanarkshire but you don't need to be interested in sports, but if you are, then you have access to the fitness coach of the stars! 😝

Here is the sanctuary's Facebook page if you want to check them out:

I am vegan, so I can show interested parties, how to make some tasty vegan dishes. (Note, I respect everyone's personal choices, but I do not welcome any meat products in my home)

I'm not a natural linguist, but I'd like to improve on my really basic Italian, Spanish and Swedish. Over the last few months I've been attempting to learn the cello so any help with this is appreciated!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Light hearted humour (i.e. craic) and some humble attempts at cooking. I really enjoy giving Muay Thai and personal training lessons, especially to those who would be too shy to take a class, so take advantage of the offer. In October this year I gave a Muay Thai lesson on a sailing ship in Sweden, so am looking for a way to top that!

I'm also in training to become an AnimalFlow instructor which is a form of yoga (but with cool animal names :-p) so I'm happy to show anyone some flows.
