Why I’m on Couchsurfing

"onism - n. the frustration of being stuck in just one body, that inhabits only one place at a time, which is like standing in front of the departures screen at an airport, flickering over with strange place names like other people's passwords, each representing one more thing you'll never get to see before you die-and all because, as the arrow on the map helpfully points out, you are here."

Music, Movies, and Books

Some great movies: Magnolia, Waking Life, Diving Bell and the Butterfly, the Imitation Game, La Prima Cosa Bella

wonderful books: House of Leaves, Rumi, Super Sad True Love Story, many others.

music: I like funk, jazz, blues, rock, techno, world, you name it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This year, I made a program that plays pure tones, tuned frequencies some think release emotional blockages. The balance of the tones changed at different speeds based on random number suggestions from an audience. Then, I made funny noises into a microphone with some delays.

My friend replied afterwards: "Whoa, I feel really good."

I used to volunteer at a school in Detroit, that was pretty special.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Having great conversation, a good meal, mutual respect, bonding over what makes us unique, both leaving with our minds full of new movie recommendations, travels spots, questions and a new friendship.

I'm a tidy, respectful, low maintenance guest!
