Overview
About Me
I was born and raised in London, the U.K.
I studied Philosophy in Utrecht, Netherlands, graduating in 2016. Then I will do a Master's degree in Ecological Economics in Edinburgh, in September 2017.
For now - I'm travelling around B.C., in Canada. I was here before in 2015, travelling during the summer. But I felt that the chapter was unfinished, and I needed to come back to pick up where I had left off.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm a fan of CouchSurfing for the same reasons that I'm a fan of the WorkAway scheme - the best way to travel is to see the world through the eyes and lives of the people who live in the place itself.
Being a tourist is exciting and fun, but Couchsurfing offers travellers a way of feeling more 'at home' along their travels - more part of the community and the way of life of the places they visit.
I am also excited to offer any help to my hosts in return for their hospitality and openness. I love to cook, and am always thinking of new ways to prepare good and healthy meals.
Interests
I'll be studying Ecological Economics in September - I'm interested in the environment, climate change, environmental politics and economics, and everything related.
I love to read anything and everything, but during my travels I also try to develop my practical skills as much as possible - whether through farming, cooking, DIY skills, painting, writing poetry...
I'm growing more interested in sustainable business and entrepreneurship too - in the back of my mind I'm always thinking of possible business ideas related to sustainable technology, circular economies, and green investments.

Music, Movies, and Books
My music taste is really wide and will change week by week. Think: Bon Iver -> Kendrick Lamar -> Billy Holiday -> Debussy -> John Mayer... the list goes on.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lived, cooked and worked with the Maasai tribe of Kenya for 3 days - sleeping in traditional 'boma' houses made of straw and clay, milking the goats in the morning, taking the cows for a walk during the day, and eating fresh goat in the evening with traditional black 'chai' tea.
Oh, I also skydived twice, scuba-dived and performed live music and poetry on stage a few times too.
Teach, Learn, Share
These are some cool things I can do:
The Rubik's cube (my current record is 2 minutes)
Drums, Guitar, Piano
Knitting (I made a pair of (oversized) slippers once)
Make great hummus!
What I Can Share with Hosts
My friends tell me that I'm a very chilled out and relaxed person. I try to think realistically and pragmatically: if it can't be fixed then don't stress about it, but find a new path instead.
Living in the Netherlands (where the locals are known to be direct and honest) and travelling alone a lot , has allowed me to become very honest and open with the people that I meet along the way - a good, authentic, interesting conversation can really make my day!
I'm super optimistic, curious and I love to embrace any experience that might come my way.
Even the smallest acts of kindness and generosity can make a difference - I hope with my future CouchSurfing hosts to celebrate how in only a few minutes, two strangers from opposite ends of the world can become the greatest friends through travel, sharing and trust.
Maybe we'll meet soon!
