About Me

Hey there!

My name is Dominik and I'm a 24-year-old student from Germany. I finished my bachelor degree in communication science in January 2015 and right after that I started my working holiday trip to Canada and the US. At first, I was supposed to stay in North America for about only 6 months, but shortly before I was about to go home, I decided to stay here for another year because I didn't feel ready to end this fantastic experience yet.

Being in North America is a magnificent journey so far. I get to know a lot of interesting places, meet fantastic people and visit spots that I knew before only from films and television.

As I'll be abroad until summer 2016, I am currently unable to host couchsurfers but I'm looking forward to do so when I return to Germany.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing gives me the opportunity to travel around the world, meet new people and save some money that I can spend on my future travels.

Therefore it's a great platform for travellers. I especially like the unique philosophy that is shared by millions of members all around the globe.

Interests

I love to travel - so far, I have mainly travelled in Europe and seen a lot of great places there but now I finally made it to North America.

I'm interested in sports, especially basketball and football, or how it's called here in North America: soccer.

The past 12 months have made a huge hiking fan out of me, something that I didn't think of when I was back in Germany (well, my hometown is not really a great spot for hiking trails...). Doing a hiking trip and walking for 15, 20, 25 km while knowing that at the end of the hike there's a spectacular reward (viewpoint, lake etc.) waiting for one, is my favorite kind of hike.

Like probably everyone, I like to listen so some good music and depending on what I'm doing at that rught moment, I prefer recent chart music, dance, hiphop or rnb.

Music, Movies, and Books

favorite music: HipHop, Charts, Dance

favorite movies: Indiana Jones, most of the Leo-DiCaprio-stuff, mindfuck-movies in general (e.g. Inception, Prestige, Memento), thrillers (e.g. The Departed, The Usual Suspects)

favorite books: all kind of scary stuff

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My recent trip to Maui was like a dream coming true to me because I will always wanted to go to Hawaii. As it is very expensive to get there from Europe, I am glad that I made it while living on the West Coast.

During my trip to Maui I was able to do a lot of amazing activities thanks to my great Couchsurfing hosts.

I snorkled with sea turtles in the ocean, jumped from cliffs, swam under waterfalls and hung out a lot at beautiful beaches.

It was an amazing experience that I will never forget!

Teach, Learn, Share

I was raised bingual, therefore - aside of English - I also speak German and Polish in a fluent manner and I'd be more than happy to teach you some.

If we decide to go out and have a couple of predrinks at home, I can teach you a lot of fun drinking games ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hosting me means letting a person into your house, which has a wide sense of humour, likes to explore new regions, is very easy-going but at the same time very organized, is ok with partying as well as hanging out and having a good talk and willing to learn new things about the surrounding area and culture.
