About Me
Hej Hej
I'm Dominik and just finished my Bachelor's in environmental science in Bielefeld. I'm a spontaneous, talkative, open-minded person that loves experiencing adventures in any kind of way and of course new people to learn from each other. I love to get out of my comfort zone in order to learn new things and also remember to appreciate what I have.
Since the standard in Germany is something thats not usual in the world.
Right now I am travelling on my own through India and hope to explore new sites of myself as well as find inner, spiritual peace. So while I can be talkative and enjoy company I also do know how to enjoy quite time for myself and dont need someone around me all the time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
There are three reasons:
The first reason is that I absolutely love to get to know new people and make friends around the globe, I feel like we can benefit from each others differences as well as skills and have a lot of laughs, jokes and experience together, leading to a better understanding in the world.
The second reason: I travel to learn about the culture. And during my stays in hostels I keep on realizing that the real cultural exchange is not going to happen this way. So couchsurfing for me is a really nice way to dive into the daily business of a person and the culture, try to participate. This starts from the type of breakfast, doing the dishes and goes on to traditional folk dances, rituals and especially cooking together. I really would love to learn how to cook some dishes!
The third reason is simple as that: To learn about the city and more travelling tips around the area by locals.
Interests
I guess everything a normal young grown man also likes. I'm very much into playing theater and also found myself doing yoga during my Term abroad. I'm always in for concerts and festivals, basically just celebrating music in some kind of way. Gazing at northern lights, ice-skating and snowballfights also became some of my greatest hobbys in Umeå and Abisko. Since my appreciation of nature and our dear beloved planet earth made me study, hiking became one of the ways I like to experience this mother nature. However I would like to try some more outdoor sports here in India to find more ways to exhaust myself and feel different terrains. I am especially interested in climbing though I am still a beginner. River rafting in Rishikesh has also been a lot of fun.
Also I absolutely love dancing! It somehow grew in me of which I'm very happy about! Whether it's meeting up with friends to practice, dancing Lindy Hop on social dance events, twisting the feet behind the house in the garden or on my way to the university.
And if you want to cook something together, I'm absolutely in!
Overall you could say that I'm easy to motivate. :)
Unfortunately I stopped practicing Yoga when I was back in Germany and slowly get back to it during my time in India right now. I realized that its a process and a journey I have to experience and try at the moment to get a better feeling for my body and soul by practicing the asanas basics and meditation. Unfortunately I don't have experience in Pranayama but would love to get insights to it.
Also I prefer a nice night at a campfire with stories and a relaxing vibe over some big party go out.

Music, Movies, and Books
Puuuuuuh, I'm in for a lot of different music. My taste varies a lot and I am open to everything. I guess just everything that sounds good. And even though I don't understand french I'm really into their music.
Music for me is something I really need in my life. It helps me to a lot to feel and to get through difficult situations. There is a perfect song for every moment.
Movies: Everything with a lovely twist in it or something you notice the love the directors put into it.
Books While I was reading a lot of Dramas, thrillers and more comed-ish books in the past I somehow ended up in reading growing of Age-Stories. I just find them very inspirational and I feel like I self-improved a lot by them, it helped me to reflect on my own.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being on a tour playing Shakespeare with my theater group from the university in germany while earning money out of the hat.
Have been running around at the Lollapalooza Festival for two days in a warm banana costume at ~38°C to collect signatures for fair fruits. Result together with the work of all other volunteers was that LIDL had to provide more health care for the farmers.
Teach, Learn, Share
Everything I know I can try to teach. Some Yoga, improvisation, (cooking together always feels like way more fun), how to speak German, some Lindy-Hop dancing moves, a little bit of juggling, jokes and stories. We will definitely find something.
What I would like to learn is easy: everything you know and I don't. Like languages, cultural differences, the hidden tips of the best local food in the city/village, new yoga poses, try new sport. Since I absolutey have no skills in music I'd be glad to work on that site of me. Otherwise sharing conversations, discussions and a cup of tea would be nice. :)
