About Me

I have just moved to Toronto to do my PhD program in Human Geography. I haven't been active at Couchsurfing for a couple of years since I was traveling and moving around quite a lot. I've lived in Berlin and have been studying in the Netherlands for the last two years, in the meantime doing research in Indonesia and Ghana.

I'm new to the city but I am lucky to have this amazing 1-bedroom apartment in downtown Toronto so I would be happy to share my space with you for 2-3 days. I would not be a tour guide since I don't know the city yet myself but I could let you stay and feel comfortable, using all the amenities. I have an extra bedding for my guests and a spare key too. If you are respectful and keep the space clean, we will easily get along.

There is a nice patio which belongs to my apartment. It's too cold to check it out while I'm writing this (02.22.20), but I feel it's gonna be a great place in spring and summer :) So let's check it out together.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

being a host, being a guest. It's all about sharing, after all.

Interests

Social science and migrations. Social geography. Globalization, inequality, 'development', sustainability. Playing my u-bass. Politics and social economy. Riding my bike. Keeping plants in my apartment.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: usually social science book, especially critical development theories and migration studies textbooks :)
Apart from that: Indian literature (K. Desai, R. Mistry, S. Rushdie)

Music: recently Afrobeat and strong basslines since I am learning to play bass. Music from West Africa and Sahel. Classical jazz works too, especially in the evenings. Open to new musical experiences. If you play anything and have the instrument with you, you are very much welcome here and let's play.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I wrote and published a novel but I still can't really decide what it's about.

Teach, Learn, Share

People speaking Hindi are welcome. People playing instruments, too. If you are genuinely interested in the understanding (not necessarily' exploring' the world), we would get along.

We can go out for a drink and talk about life if we're (both) in the mood.

Oh, no meat cooking in my kitchen or keeping it in my fridge. Of course, I don't mind if you eat meat, just don't bring it to my place.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Bangladesh, Belarus, China, Colombia, England, Ghana, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Sri Lanka, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Netherlands, Poland
