ABOUT ME
Hey out there, I'm Dominik!
I started couchsurfing during my semester abroad in St. Louis, Missouri in 2014 and made a lot great experiences that I do not wanna miss with couchsurfers in the St. Louis area, Chicago, Detroit and North California. Now I wanna give back and host travelers!
I'm from the Ruhr-Area, an old industrial area in Germany which is located in the deep west, quite close to the Netherlands. I live and study in Bochum, a nice medium-size city in the center of this metropolian area. Whereas I like my home-area, -town, and -community, I also love to travel the world to broaden my horizons, acting upon the motto "Think global, act local", even acting gobally is an tempting but challenging issue.
I'm a very thoughtful and critical person, trying to understand several social processes and reflecting others and not at least my own actions. Thereby, I try to be free of prejudices, even if I certainly don't succeed with this all the time. I try to view myself trough the eyes of the other, questioning my own behavior with the goal to get a better and thereby more satisfied person.
PHILOSOPHY
Come to terms with contradictions.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I couchsurfed and participated in CS activities during my semester abroad and just started hosting in Bochum, Germnay.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I made the best experiences when I couchsurfed during my travels: In Chicago, my host hosted five other surfers with whom I explored the city. In Detroit, I went urban exploring with my host. In Illinois, I spend the easter weekend with my host's family and in Berkeley, I hung out with nice dudes from a laid-back student Co-Op!
Interests
Urban sociology, urban life, getting to know new cities (preferably from a local's viewpoint), exploring its neighborhoods, sites, residents and culture(s).
Talk to new people and make friends all over the world while staying in good contact with old friends.
Traveling: Its not over with the end of the journey or the vacation. What remains is the memory and a lot of great pictures!
I like to party, explore cities nightlife scenes, go to concerts in small and big venues, playing and watching football, especially going to home games of my favorite club Borussia Dortmund in Germany, supporting the team on the Südtribüne, the biggest standing stand in europe, running, hiking, biking and trying out new sports like gragenboat, climbing, yoga etc., watching good movies with firends, politics and discussing about it and a lot more!

Music, Movies, and Books
Watch LOST (TV series), its mind-blowing and just great!
Mainly rock music, especially punk and suchlike. A little bit of rap music. But I'm open to all kinds of music from jazz to electronic. Preferably life, loud and free!
I don't read a lot of nels or fiction, mostly boring scienfiic stuff :P.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiking the Angels Landing Trail at ZION National Park, Utah.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you every word or sentence you always wanted to know in German! I would love to show you Bochum and the Ruhrgebiet, the Metropolian area I come from if you decide to visit me (and I have enough time to do so...).
I would like to learn everything interesting about your city, its history, development, sites, culture, residents and therefore of cause also about you! If you could show me how to cook a native meal, that would be awesome!
Countries I’ve Lived In
Germany, United States
