About Me

I'm a down to earth person. People have told me I am very centered (whatever that means) and an enigma (again, whatever that means). I suppose they say that because I can come off as an introspective person (I think I'm more of an ambivert) until you make it into my comfort zone. I'm okay with silence because I believe in the Buddhist mindset, "If you propose to speak, always ask yourself, is it true, is it necessary, is it kind." I'm not necessarily Buddhist, but I find it a good way to be a better human being.

I've been in school most of my life with an occasional trip abroad, but now I'm taking a hiatus to work. I teach English as a Second Language so if you need a quick lesson on English, you're welcome to lessons while you stay with me haha
Happy surfing!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend of mine joined CS, but because of an emergency, I ended up hosting her guest at the last minute. I met an amazing and humble human being and that's when I knew I wanted to become a member of CS and meet more people like that.

If it is only for a day or a week, I'm happy to offer up a pillow and my couch for travel weary travelers.

Interests

I love to read and learn new things. I especially enjoy learning new languages. It's always nice to be able to find new ways to express yourself i.e. cursing in Korean so no one understands you or swooning in French. I look forward to learning something new!

I am a bit of a geek. I grew up watching a lot of Star Wars and Star Trek with my father. I also played a lot of video games too. I don't really have time for that now, but it's still a part of who I am.

I am also interested in martial arts and archery. I train in the dojo at least three times a week.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to listen to pretty much everything, except for country. I like alternative rock the most and then indie hip hop.

As for movies, I like comedies, foreign films, indie movies, and I have a soft spot for ridiculous action movies.

Books, books, books. I love them! I read mostly short fiction and right now I am focusing on reading Japanese literature. The Tale of Genji has been my bed time companion for two summers now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have some brainy accomplishments but those are no fun. I like to think that one amazing thing I CONTINUE to do is, educate and empower power by helping them learn English. I do this everyday and I find it really rewarding to see people improve, gain more self confidence, and eventually change their lives; all through language. I find that amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach and share many things. English for one. I also love to share food recipes!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories, home cooked meals, a fold out futon mattress/ couch, and companionship on that long road ahead.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Macao, Mexico, Portugal, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In
