About Me

Hey, I'm Donal(24) from Ireland. Graduated from a Bachelors degree in Applied Psychology and we (My friend Louis and I) moved from Australia to Vietnam and now currently living in Vancouver, Canada.

I have been fortunate enough to travel a lot of places so far. From these earlier travels have seen and met amazing people and realized the value in traveling, from getting out of your comfort zone to educating yourself about the world, its people and cultures. I'm very open to all people and new things so if you need a place to crash or have one available for me whilst traveling I'd be more than happy to have you or would be extremely grateful for you to accommodate me in turn.

Please ask me any questions if you have any :).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Everyone has a version of traveling in their head in which you have to have money bursting from the seams for it to happen. I really want to see if i can get from A to B doing what I love without letting this paralyze me.

We all can relate to this which is why Id like to host people with a similar mindset. To get to know them, hear their tricks of the trade, their stories and then do so in kind when I'm on the road. I think this a good way to get out of your comfort zone and really get an authentic taste of traveling and seeing the world rather than through an itinerary or a superficial brochure.

Interests

I have so many interests I would spend less time listing things that I'm not interested in :P.

But ill give it a go. To name some of the big ones though:
Anything movement related: Dancing , Gymnastics, Fitness, Soccer, Climbing, Acrobatics, Circus Arts, Hand-balancing(handstands), Swimming, Stretching, Yoga, Martial Arts and the list goes on...(If you know who Ido Portal is, your my new best friend)
I'm a musician and have been playing bass for nearly 6 years.
I read quite a lot. If you would like to see some of my favorites have a look in the next section
Big into Art and I sketch mainly with charcoal and I do a lot of digital art on Photoshop.
Also fancy my self to be a reasonably good cook and love making new foods.
So if your interested in any of the above and want to learn some handstands, back flips I'm your guy!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all forms of music except for the obvious crap. Grew up on Zeppelin and the oldies, Love Gramatik, Tupac, Eazy-E, Biggie, Nas, Wutang, Victor Wooten, Black Keys, and anything else I can get my hands on.
Favorite books would be: Mastery by Robert Greene, Shantaram by Gregory Roberts, Black Swan by Nassim Nicholas Taleb(its not the movie:P), Hitch-22 by Christopher Hitchens. Currently reading Orwell
Movies are equally diverse but a few of the best would be: Fight Club, Into the Wild, Spirited Away, Whiplash, Food Matters, Zeitgeist.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving is definitively up there, getting my first back flip is a very far off second.

Teach, Learn, Share

Would love to learn anything you have to offer and open to all new things. If you would like to learn any of the above just ask. Whatever stories I have to share as well I would be more than happy to tell.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Whatever stories from the past I have and whatever help or favors I can offer them. My terrible jokes are at the top of the list and hopefully a long term friend for the future.. If you want to learn any of the above: handstands, music, art, basic acrobatics, or just have conversation on readings, I'm in 100% and will do my best
